Hello,

I have 2 new pigs and I have just transferred over to fleeces for their cage. I have no idea how to clean this thing. It’s got little fibre bits of hay stuck to it, I tried shaking it out and it’s not budging. I can’t put this in my washing machine with all this on there! What do you suggest I do? I could hand wash it over the bath? I read something about some bag you can put them in. What about those washing machines you get at garages etc for large laundry, but I’m not sure I trust what they use in there? Also I am not a new owner, just new to fleece bedding so I’m not sure this is in the right area of the forum

Thanks

You can use a rubber brush as they are pretty good at getting by most of the hay off.

And then get in a horse rug bag to wash the fleece in ( any hay still on the fleece may remain in the bag and might stick to the fleece again once washed but it will stop it from coming out into your washing machine)

I also recommend a pet wash bag and the rubber/silicone handbrush makes a huge difference. Very old fashioned but I sometimes whack mine (once dry on the line) with a carpet beater too.
It doesn't get the boar glue off though! 🤣

No even a miracle would get that off!

Hay shakes off of bobble bath mats easier than the actual fleece so I use those on top of the fleece for the hay piles to go on. I also use the horse wash bags. There’s no way I’d ever put their bedding in my machine without one. I shake them into a large plastic bag and then also shake them out again in the garden. I don’t usually sweep the fleece.

So there is a blue bobble mat under this pile of hay too.
