Hello,
My names Jordan and I am a proud piggy owner.
I’ve had my little pigs for about 2 days now, (both female)
I’m new to guinea pigs and have never owned one, just need a couple of things answered for me...

1. They are squealing at each other and chasing each other round the cage.. does this mean there fighting?

Look at the ‘Guinea pig guides’ section on the top banner of this site. It will give you information on normal dominance behaviours as well as when things are more serious and their bond has failed and need separating.
You’ve not had them very long so they will need to establish a hierarchy between them, chasing is one of those behaviours. How old are they?
Important things to bear in mind is that they have a large enough cage -120cm x 60cm is the absolute bare minimum size but it is highly recommended that they are kept in a cage much bigger than this size. Too small a cage and it can cause fighting. Make sure you have two of all equipment (bowls, bottles etc) and open ended hideys so no one piggy can be cornered by the other.
Do check out the guides.

Hi and welcome!

Please take the time to read this guide here. Your piggies are not fighting; they are establishing a working group and if they are youngsters, they also may run and jump for sheer joy (zoomies and popcorning). Youngsters are very vocal and dramatic. Are they boys or sows and how old are they?

This guide here will help you understand social interactive behaviour more:
Bonding: Illustrated Dominance Behaviours And Dynamics

Boars: A guide to successful companionship.
Sow Behaviour

What to check and look out for in new guinea pigs (vet checks, sexing, parasites&illness)

These guides are all part of our very helpful new owners guide collection in which we address all the most often encountered areas that new owners have questions or worries about. This ranges from settling in making friends and handling; understanding behaviour; diet, housing and care; safe and unsafe toys and cage accessories; learning what is normal and what is not and how to spot illness early on as well as information on vet care/insurance and access to recommended vets and rescues in several countries.

New to this so getting all a bit confused.

Hi Jordan and welcome to you and your girls.
Hope they sort themselves out soon.
Please share pictures of them and their enclosure, we all love to see piggies and where they live :wel:
