.... I noticed blood stained wee on a puppy pad a couple of days ago. Since then , I have had all 3 out in plastic containers two days running - on wee watch . Both times , there was no visible blood in their wee.

I remember I gave them a dandelion leaf each a couple of days ago and am wondering if this is to blame.

Oh no. Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it. I have no idea about dandelions and blood. I know they have a diuretic effect though.

Doesn't the stuff in puppy pads oxidise or something? It's frustrating when you can't get to the bottom of it. Had anyone been eating beetroot leaves or juicy red pepper as those have fooled me in the past into thinking there was a problem when there wasn't.

.. mmm - I feel a senior moment coming on - I MAY have given them some red pepper - I can't remember ! I'm keeping an eye on them .

I also gave them a few celery leaves as a treat a few days ago (not many !).

I always keep some urine test sticks in, as they will detect blood in piggies' urine even when it is not visible to the eye.

I wouldn't beat yourself up I doubt giving the odd dandelion or celery leaf would cause acute blood in the urine. Its possible someone passed a bit of gravel but l doubt the blood would clear completely in a day. Sometimes sows with ovarian cysts can pass some blood. If it recurs maybe get Bess checked out again?

I'm wondering if Bess is the culprit .
