I ordered two snugglesafe pads just in time for winter and I'm not sure if they come with a cover or not.

Would a crochet cover be okay? Do you use yours with or without a cover?

*Update* the snugglepads came today, I heated them up to the correct temperature and checked them with my hand, put them in the hutch under the hay.....and the pigs are avoiding them. They've gone to the other end of the hutch. I hope they work out that warm is good and lay on it or lay around it :(

@PiggySmitten loves using hers to keep her piggies warm and I don't mean the guinea piggies :xd:

They should get used to them, don't use them without the cover as ive seen some pictures of piggies with burns apparently from heat pads but I'm not sure they would lay on it for long enough to get a nasty burn :hmm:.
They are a clever thing I like them, just a shame they are so hard making it not comfy to lay on.

Haha my mum said she wanted one. I was also surprised at how hard they were! I was expecting something soft like a hot water bottle.

I was too I think they must take some getting used too, they will fit perfectly in my hive igloos with a blanket on top but I wonder if they would be too hot then :hmm:.
I will be honest after piggysmitten said she had taken her heat pad to bed to keep her feet warm I tried that too XD....cosy but solid
Here's my alex in his pod/hive igloo

I have not seen these Snuggle safe heat pads. Are they like the round pink Ice pods from Scratch and Newton?

I burnt my fingers yesterday on the heat pad when putting it in the cover after taking it out the microwave . Watch out for hot spots as that's what caught my fingers out.

I've had to give our heat pads over to the boy piggies now;).

£10 in amazon Black Friday deal today I noticed (lightening deal but they repeat it a couple of times each day for this product)

I pop mine in for 6 minutes each with the cover on, am I meant to take the cover off? (I put them in a pillowcase because of the hair and poop and wee and general germs that I don't want transferring to the microwave plate).

I think that if they are heating the hutch it will be warmer than if they have nothing in there, even if they arent laying directly on them.

It's fine to leave the covers on when heating. I just take them off so that I don't get the hairs off the covers in the microwave. The covers do need washing every few days though.
