I have been keeping an eye on Daisy for a little while now due to a change in her personality, she was getting stroppy when the other hutch was fed first and teeth chattering through the door at me. Then I noticed she had enlarged nipples which was the sign I noticed when Rosie had ovarian cysts. The vet Rosie went to was dead set against the hormone treatment and told me about horrid side effects so Rosie was spayed and she died. Recently there have been a few things I wasn't happy about with that vet, including what happened to Rosie, so I took Daisy to a vet I have been thinking about swapping to for a while.

The guy I saw first found the lump by feeling her belly and he was quite happy to consider the hormone treatment but still talked about spaying being the only permanent cure. He asked the other vets and we decided hormones were best. When Daisy went back for the injections a few days later she saw a lady vet who knew all about ovarian cysts and didn't recommend spaying her at all and said there were no known side effects from the hormones. She gave Daisy cuddles and talked to her sweetly while she gave her the injections. Poor little piggy had to have 2 injections, one in each side of her scruff but she was so good and only flinched a bit when the second one went in and she put her paw on my finger.

Now, a few days later, she has calmed down a bit, she is putting on weight and her nipples are starting to look a bit smaller. Yay Daisy :)

What fabulous news - It's great finding a good vet. Perhaps put them on the recommended Vet Sticky so other's can benefit to :)!

Get Well soon Daisy! x>> x

Glad to hear the hormone injections are having an effect. My girl was recently diagnosed with ovarian cysts and was told that spaying was one of the only options to consider (she also had persistant UTI's). Thankfully her spay was a success and stiches were removed this week but the great thing about this forum as it provides us with information and questions to ask our vets.

I've seen a lot of vets and have gotten second opinions. It's great when you find a vet you trust and most importantly shows affection towards you pet.

Glad your girly is doing good. I keep thinking "what if I had just taken Rosie to the other vet, she might still be here" 8... I have to remind myself that Rosie had a good time living here with Poppy and Daisy and if Rosie was here I wouldn't have been able to rescue Annabelle.
