As the title suggest I live in the UK. I currently don't own no guinea pigs but I am hoping to get them in the summer. While I am waiting for the guinea pigs I thought why not buy a cage. After hours of research people say that you shouldn't buy a pet store cage because they are too small so I thought I would buy a C&C cage but there is no where that sell the cubes or the correx I don't know where to get them from. If I don't get a C&C cage my partner wont let me buy them because she read somewhere that small cages tend to smell more if they aren't cleaned early so I have to buy a C&C cage.
By the way totally new to the forum

Hi! And welcome to the forum! I've not been a member long but have had so much brilliant advice- it's really friendly and helpful. So...I'll pass some on!
I'm building my c&c this weekend and I bought the grids from a seller on eBay called also-Grendel (Just search c&c and it will come up).

I got my correx from a seller on eBay- the aluminium shop. I actually ended up ringing them and ordering the exact amount over the phone. I asked for it to be delivered flat, too.

I need to buy slide binders for the correx, as the pigs chew the edge! And I've been advised to put them on before building it.

There is a company on the internet called c&c cages that sell the complete set up too.

As I have three pigs, I've ordered a 5 x 2 grid setup with a 1 x 2 hayloft.

Hope that's helpful. I wish I'd been as prepared as you before we got our piggies! There are loads of useful threads and pics in the housing and enrichment section too.
Jen.

Thank you I will look it up on ebay

Hi there, welcome to the forum!

I ordered mine from an online company called Wayfair (search wire mesh cubes on their site) and they delivered fast and for the best price I could find. The correx I ordered from ebay :)

Hello and :wel:. I got my grids from e bay. However now they have gone up in price. :td: And are £60. :( I got my corex from a local sign writer but it was dearer than the aluminum shop.

So I looked it up on It on ebay and Its quite expensive looks like I have to save some money up.
Anybody have images or videos on how to build a cage your self

If you are ok with white grids rather than black, you can probably get them cheaper if you buy them as "seville storage cubes" from ebay or Amazon. There are 30 grids in a box and you get connectors too. You just need to work out how many grids you need.

For a 5x2 set up you'd need 25 grids if you are having a base of grids (you might not need grids on the bottom if you are putting it on a table or happy to have it directly on the floor - you'll still have the correx inside of course to protect your floor). For a 1x2 loft you will need 7-8 grids. That would take you annoyingly over the 30 you get in a box so if you have space consider a 2x6 without loft instead - 29 grids needed.

As @Julie M says, they do seem to have gone up in price a lot recently though. I got some white ones in July/August for £29 a box. I ended up using them as shoe storage as that need was more urgent! I've now got a C&C cage though too.

EDIT: just to be clear when I say base I mean the flat bottom, if you wanted "legs" of grids like the video, you will need more grids

I got my cage from candcguineapigcages.co.uk. I bought a 5x2 cage, came complete with correx, grids, cable ties and connectors. I think I paid £80 all in including delivery which came within a couple of days. I also spent about £4 on slide binders. I found this much easier than trying to source everything individually and they were very helpful. My 2 girls love it. Compared to a ferplast120 which costs the same the girls have so much more space. A 5x2 is about 185cm long by 77cm wide and I plan on adding a loft at some point. Hope that helps.

Was that with a grid base for the correx to sit on (whether with or without "legs")? If yes, seems as cheap as it would be to buy bits separetly at the moment too (unless you're quick on ebay). Can't believe how much the grids have gone up in price.

I've also heard good things about that company and don't you get a wider choice of correx colours from them?

It doesn't have a base, what I paid for was cage, correx, connectors and ties at £54.99, then delivery was £14.99 ( just realised my math was bad, I paid £70 not £80 all in, sorry). I looked at sourcing the correx locally but it wasn't cheap and I wanted to get them a new cage quickly. They were in a ferplast 100 and didn't realise until I joined the forum it was much to small for them.

Still at the moment what you paid seems not a bad price given, bar that one find, its about £60 for a box of grids at the moment. You might not have needed them all for your set up but you can't buy half a box! The places where you can buy single grids are not particularly cheap. I got mine from alsogrendle rather than use the seville ones because I couldn't do the maths to work out how many grids I needed as I've got the "legs" etc too.

anyone know where to buy the correx or the board thing for C&C cage because I cant find it anywhere

eBay- the aluminium shop. Just search correx. Or there's Protecta Board - have a look at the main thread about correx suppliers in Housing and Enrichment.

I've also got mine from thealuminiumshop and can recommend but I wish I'd thought to ask them to deliver it flat as @Jen H did - would've been easier to deal with!

I believe that "CandC Guinea Pig cages.co.uk" now sells spares, so you might be able to get extra grids from them. I got my 2 X 5 from them. The Correx comes pre-scored so you only need to fold it to shape and tape it in place. Much easier than getting all the bits separately.
I bought a sheet of Correx from Ebay and it came rolled up tight. (Stupid seller!) I could not use it for its intended purpose. If you try to roll it the other way, it tends to crease.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I got my grids from amazon, and ebay for the correx. The delivery was amazing and all packed up well.
As said above, the prices have gone up a bit.

Haha! I'm afraid I'll be 'measure twice, cut once, order more correx...!' I once measured up for a bed which filled the room and we had to climb over it to get to the wardrobe!
I made the correx too big, was devastated, so had to cut some off and re stick.

I got my grids from Amazon just search for a gris storage system and my correx was from tea crate packaging uk it's actually sold as floor protection for people moving house but it was under £4 a sheet which is the cheapest I have seen it anywhere! 2 sheets were more than enough for my 2x4 cage with 2x1 loft.

Hi,

I've ordered my C&C cage from the C&C guinea pig cages website http://www.candcguineapigcages.co.uk/ The company are based in the UK. Their website allows you to build a cage from scratch, it comes with everything that you need they even score the coroplast base for you, so it's ready to assemble when it arrives. You can add lofts, lids and ramps as well. I decided to order my C&C cage through a company because it'll be my first C&C cage, I've watch videos on how to make them yourself etc, but I wouldn't trust myself with scoring the coroplast/correx, so I'd rather let them do it. I can't comment on the service etc just yet as I haven't received my cage yet, but I'll let you know once I get it. :)

Regards and best of luck!

I find that suppliers are getting harder to find in the UK without paying over the odd. I got my from a seller on Ebay called SuperBargainsuk but they don't have any in stock anymore. I'm glad when I first built my C&C that i stocked up and ordered 90 grids with connectors as now I have plenty for my current plans. I think your best bet at the moment is CandCguineapigcages or ebay.
