I had to give Velvet a butt trim, her very soft downy underneath fur had become a bit matted, she was soooooooooo good.
Allan held her and faced her butt to me and i used sharp scissors BUT put my finger between her butt and the scissors so if i slipped it would be me that got cut, i did it bit by bit and then gently separated her fur and it's all nice and lovely again :)
Thankyou to a few lovely people who said i'd be ok, just to take it slowly and carefully xx>>>xx>>>

Now a question..............if i continue to brush her thoroughly do you think this will help her more? it only seems to be as i said her soft downy fur underneath her long quiff :{

Glynis, I am glad you survived! Tried with Pola, not as luck as you! :)) Accidently grabbed hair cutting scissors that turned out to be dull! rolleyes Pola was not happy with me. :p

Gonna try your advice again tomorrow with sharper scissors!

welldone,i quite reguarly brush bandits as my OH calls it Under Carriagerolleyes
and because i do it at least 4 times per week i haven't had to cut his hair yet.
I'm glad little Velvet behaved for you xxxxxxx

Well done Glynis! It is so much easier when someone can hold the piggie for you, I'm glad you roped Allan in to help!

I've been brushing my shelties daily since I got them in April and their hair has come up beautifully. I only trim them to control the length, not needed to cut any knots out. I find the wire brushes are the most thorough: https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/Health+%2526+Hygiene.12/Mini+Gentle+Slicker+Brush.354.html
I also use the scissors from the Options range, they're sharp and do a good cut but the ends are rounded.

Do you take walk-ins or do I have to make an appointment? :p :))

Round 2 with Pola later today...have to wait until my Mom can come over and help hold her. Got my scissors sharp and a backup pair in case. 6)

Pola's hair has been successfully cut! She was not a happy girl but I explained it would make her feel better and she seemed to calm down (I sound like a nut!) :)) :p

Afterwords she enjoyed a nice 30 min brushing and mini massage...what a rough night :)):p

awwwwwwwwwww well done, go Pola see you're mummy has learnt now what to do :)
mini massage i'm sure she adored that xoxoxoxoxoxo

I tell my piggies what I'm about to do and picture it in my mind, and they are generally calmer and more cooperative. Barmy - but I don't mind as long as it works!
