One of my girls developed a dry scaly patch above her top eyelid yesterday, by today it is very sore some of the hair has come off and i believe she may have scratched it as it looks as though it has bled. Poor girl, so off to the vets for me lets hope they are open tomorrow.

Good to get the vet to take a look. I've recently had a piggie with ringworm. It was also near his eye, and was spreading quite quickly. However, it has now cleared up with the use of Caneston. I got it checked by my vet before commencing any treatment.

been using canestan and it defo has improved incredibly, haven't got to the vet cos they aren't open until tuesday so did some research and decided not to leave it and use the cream which appears to have worked. Will still get it checked however.

What is canestan? some of my guinea's have got ringworm at the moment and are on a combination of intrafungol oral medicine and imaverol to wipe on the infected areas from my vet but I'm interested to know of other things that can help with it.

Canesten can be bought from a chemist it is a thrush cream or cream for fungal treatment in humans also you can try Daktarin which is a fungal atheletes foot cream
The canesten worked for my piggy.

Imaverol is an excellent treatment for ringworm. Stick with the advice and meds from your vet.

I would agree with Suzy most definately stick with what the vet has given you. I got the suggestions of the two other creams from other forum postings when i was unable to get to a vet due to the weekends and bank hols. Hope your piggies are better soon.

Yes! fungal infections usually starts on the face. My last piggy died because of this infection which started on his face, and expanded on his belly, I was on holiday, children didn't knew what is going on , and so died. So be carefull and i hope that your guinea will be ok.

Why did the fungal infection kill him sorry to ask but my other girl has fungal on het ear and a scan on jet side. Took her to vet he said looks like a bite scab but not do sure I tho.k it looks fungal and now worried because of what happened to you.
