I think Fudge is dying :'(

Me and the boys are keeping our fingers (and toes) crossed for little Fudge we really do hope she gets stronger and better, will pray for good news for you and Fudge tonight. Keep us updated x

there's a thought... it may be too sore to put down or put weight on.

HAve you any pain killer (calpol/metacam) you can give her?

No I don't. :( I'm only 14 so I have school tomorrow. I may have to stay off. I want her to be ok. 8... I might ask my Mum to take her to the vets but I don't want them to PTS without me being there. I'm hoping it wont come to that and that I can nurse her back to health. I have owned Fudge since I was 9. I know I was young when I got her and Rainbow but I have been their main carer, the one who feeds them, loves them, buys them treats. (well obviously my parents bought hutch, run, food, pay for vet bills but I'm Fudgie's mummy :( ) My Mum loves Fudge and is really worried too but staying strong for my sake. 8...

ETA: If she has broke her leg though, I have no idea how... the hutch is a single with no ramp or anything. I feel so guilty, I wish I could have gotten her a bigger hutch, kept her inside. All the things I regret with being a piggy owner are coming to me now and I am filled with guilt. I wish I could have given her a better life. :(

Please don't blame yourself hun. It's not your fault at all. Maybe she has hurt her leg, but not actually broken it. Let's hope she is ok and that you can get her to the vet tomorrow. Big hugs, and good luck :). Keep your chin up and DON'T blame yourself :)

Thank you. For now I think she's the happiest she can be. Snuggled up in the hay next to her beloved sister. x) I have some photos to share. :)

Aww, how sweet. I really hope she is ok. At least she is happy and comfortable for now :)

Here's some photos of my lovely lady. I hope they wont be the last you'll see. 8...

This was her earlier, you can see that her eyes don't look bright and that her fur looks a little damp:

This is her an hour later with her sister Rainbow:

you may want to discuss with your mum how categorical you bith need to be with the vets re PTS. Many members, past and present, would thoroughly recommend PTS only as the very very last resort. You can monitor and manage her condition with some meds, depending on the condition, that is. It's probs quite good if it's the front paw that's playing up (my boys both lost use of their backlegs because of kidney issues). Have you thought about the possibility that she may have had a stroke? At 5 years old, it's not unheard of... but that doesn't mean PTS. Encourage her to eat an drink, try maybe some muched up pellets, my Bertie used to love that!

lastly, try to get some rest, you won't be any good to her if you can't function tomorrow! Even if you doze for a couple of hours and go and check up on her, that's better than nothing...

Chin up! you're doing a great job. I wish all my students were as compassionate and as passionate as you are!

Yeah I see what you mean about her eyes. Could that just be her age or are they usually bright? Maybe it's just because she is hurting. I really hope she is ok. Will you be taking her to the vets tomorrow? Good luck if you do :).

Thank you. I would only PTS as a last resort, I just hope she has a chance. It may be a stroke. In the last few months I found her on her back a few times but it turned out that was probably because of her itching (she had mites. :( ) So sorry about your boys losing their legs. :(

I will try to get her to eat and drink. She wont use the water bottle but will lick water off my fingers. I will do all I can for her. :) She has 3 large cysts on her which may be adding to the reason she is falling over. We looked into getting these removed but were told it's too risky due to where they are and her age. :(

I really appreciate your advice. :)

Thank you. They are usually bright. :) Yes I will take her to the vets. I have an appointment booked for my rabbit, teeth clipping so will take her along as well or book an earlier appointment.

Hugs...it's frightening isn;t it?...and you feel powerless to help them.
She's trying to get fluids from your fingers...that's a good sign.

Falling over could be stroke/neurological.....but it can also signify not enough oxygen reaching the brain due to fluid in the lungs....and she could also be dehydrated. (Slightly damp fur...I'm thinking deydration/infection/temperature)

She may be 5+....but if the vet thinks it's possible there is an outside chance that with antibioitics for any suspected infection (go for septrin rather than baytril) and furosemide diuretic for fluid the lungs.(10mg/kg first day then cutting it down gradually) ..plus rehydration sub cutaneously in view of her dull eyes, thirst and furosemide injections.... and Vit injection to stimulate apetite... that she may be able to recover from whatever is causing her problems.

I don;t want to get your hopes up....but I too have been up late at night thinking my piggie won;t be alive the following morning only to discover that they have rallied and with a visit to the vets that day....well Grommie guinea gave me several of those "heart-stopping moments" for a couple of years...and yet still managed to happily soldier on untill he was 6.5yrs....bless him.

Really hope Fudge keeps fighting and you can get a good prognosis from the vet tomorrow....and that you managed to sleep tonight.

x

She still here but she's giving up. 8... Rainbow has stayed with her all night. I've told Fudge that if she's ready, she can go be with the other angels. I've told her we will always love her and miss her but we'll be ok, she can go to rainbow bridge if it's her time. :0

I know it's bad but I'm off school today. My Mum couldn't send me in, I'm so upset. I wouldn't have been able to concentrate or anything. :( I'm just sat next to my baby girl. 8...
