I Think He Just Died

About 30 minutes ago one of my guinea pigs started making really distressing noises, he was laying on his side and twitching. I couldn't find any vets that were open, he's not made any noise for a while he's still laying on his side I think he's died. I don't think he's breathing, his eyes are still open but there's no life in them. I tried feeding him and given him water he's just not moving anymore. The other guinea pig seems ok, he's eating. they've both were treated for mites a few months ago as a precaution, and they last had a checkup about 9 months ago, they both were absolutely fine, they've always seemed fine. He has no sores, or anything that I've noticed at all. He was eating and drinking fine. I feel terrible. The other guinea pig is way more reserved I don't know how he's going to cope. I don't want to go to sleep, I want him to move, I felt so helpless it was awful.
 
Yes he's gone cold and stiff he's definitely gone, I don't know what what wrong he wasn't even 3 yet
 
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you and your remaining piggy are okay. It's very upsetting when they pass away. Unfortunately I don't know what could have caused him to pass away at that young age, piggies have a way of hiding illnesses which makes it harder to diagnose them. How is your other piggy doing? X
 
I'm really sorry for your loss. Unfortunately guinea pigs can get acutely ill and pass away very quickly. ((HUGS)) to you, I know it's awful, I've been there recently myself too.
 
Aw I'm really sorry. It's a huge shock and distressing to see (I've been there). Sometimes there can be something wrong genetically, such as a heart problem, making them seem perfectly fine and healthy one moment and then suddenly they die. Sometimes there can be an infection or something wrong with their organs that they don't show outward signs of until a few days, or sometimes a few hours, until their bodies shut down and they pass.
Twitching is very common when their bodied shut down, and so are full-on fits. Sadly sometimes we never know the answers, but very often it's nothing that we have done wrong.
Huge hugs. It would be worth getting your other pig to a vet for a check up.
