Hi!

Since your piggy doesn't have companionship of its own kind, you are at the receiving end of all the social wrangling and attention seeking. Keep in mind that piggies live in a strictly structured, hierarchical group society and that they have their own firm expectations of you, just as much as your own expectations for a guinea pig. Your boy is likely entering teenage now; it sounds like he is rumblestrutting and asserting himself.

Please make sure that you save up for medical treatment right from the start as part of the weekly living cost. Illness and emergencies never happen at a good time, but you do not have the time to wrangle for days for getting money to see a vet while your piggy is in agony and is going downhill quickly. Unfortunately vet cost is making the largest lifetime budget post but sadly far too many new owners are not aware of this with often catastrophic consquences for the pets as they suffer and die from perfectly preventable and treatable issues.
We see too often on here what a rift/stress this causes in a family to not wish to warn you so you can hopefully avoid ending up in this upsetting position. :(

As advised please start saving for vet fees NOW. It’s imperative you can take him (and his companion) to the vets as and when needed. You will also need to make sure they have enough space. A single piggy needs at least 120x60cm cage. That’s also the minimum recommended size for two female piggies. Boys are more territorial so it’s best to go bigger. At least 150x60cm cage. If you can go bigger then all the better. If you can’t, it’s not a good thing at all.

Hay makes up at least 80% of their diet. You can always try and buy the reduced stuff for yourself piggy - this is usually veg that’s expiring that day. Coriander and pepper should be staple foods - fed every day. They’re a good source of vitamin c. Others you can feed daily are cucumber, lettuce (not iceberg), celery and green bean. You don’t HAVE to feed those last ones every day but you can if you wish. Sometimes I run out and they’ll only get pepper and a green bean - they let me know they’re not happy about that 🙄

Bedding shouldn’t need changing twice weekly even with two. What do you use? If it’s woodshavings or similar - I used to poo pick every morning and change out any very wet areas. I’d then do a full clean every Friday. I’m now on fleece and poo sweep. The fleece can last at most 10 days because I use bath mats on top. But you can stick to whatever you’re using for now.

If you feel you wouldn’t be able to afford two - vet care and feeding - then please do seriously consider giving up your boy to a rescue. It would be the best thing for him and that’s what you want to do.

PS please don’t CONSIDER getting him a friend but DO get him a friend. When you do, just make sure you double check the sex, especially if you get them from a pet shop (adoption always best).
 
This is Thor he's still a baby I think I haven't had him very long but I think what I need to do is definitely bond more with him. My last guinea pig i loved him so much! I think I'm still adjusting to having Thor in my life. But I do love him!💙

He’s a cutie. How old did they say he was? Another issue is boys can be difficult to bond with other piggies during the teenage phase - 4 to 14 months of age.

it’s good you want to bond with him, and I hate to sound like a broken record, but he needs company of another piggy.

Another option would be to wait till his testicles descend then neuter him (if you have the money together). Once he’s six weeks after the neuter, he can be introduced to a lady friend

I assume he's a baby he was small when I got him
 
Check the others and see if there’s one nearby. Google as well.
