I think I’m allergic to my new piggies!

I’ve recently adopted two lovely year old piggies - and adore them....however, since owning them I’ve started to itch! My skin prickles and I find I wake myself in the night with the scratching! I’m taking antihistamine, however does anyone have any advice on how to manage the allergy? I didn’t handle the piggies today, but I did sweep up the poo in the cage, so I don’t think it’s their fur that’s bothering me....

I do get a bit itchy after handling them but not by their smell, which is very minimal. I wash my hands after handling them then I am fine.
I am lucky I am not allergic to their smell because my Finn and Lara are indoor piggies.

Being allergic to hay is a possibility also. What kind of hay do you use? Could you perhaps try a different type?

Ooh - good point, I’ve tried a new (confess - cheaper) hay with them, I’ll switch back and see if that helps! Xx
