Ok so here is the story. Phoebe and Poppy were fighting so I split them up and Phoebe went to live with my mum.
Now the set up there was a double hutch with the ladder locked up so Phoebe (bottom level) couldn't get to Brian (top level). All well and good right?
Phoebe managed to drop the ramp and ended up pregnant! Naughty Miss Phoebe!
And this morning I get a text "Good morning grandma"!!
I phoned my mum and Phoebe has had her babies, all of which seem happy and healthy, pottering around and wheeking.
It's the 'all' that has shocked me.
There are SEVEN of the little wheekers!! SEVEN! I was thinking two or three but not one for every day of the week @)
Apparently one is 'harlequin' like Phoebe, three are lighter brown than her and three are chocolate brown.

I'm ever so slightly in shock.

Wow! That's alot of piggies on your hands! Good luck! Hope mum and babies continue to do well :) Pretty please can we have some pigtures? :))

I might be going to see them later today if I do I'll take lots of pictures :)

I'm going to see them this afternoon I'm soooo excited! Lots of pigtures of the little ones with mummy pig x) We have a runt apparently but even that piggy seems healthy and is wheeking along with the others.
Clearly Brian is a very fertile daddy pig :))

Well done Phoebe for having so many alive and thriving!

Please ask your mum to weigh them daily in order to make sure that they are all feeding properly. She may want to cut dry wholebread in chunks and soak them in full fat goats milk for the pups to nibble on for additional nutrition. Any pups under 50g will need hand feeding.

Any baby boars need to be separated at 3 weeks old unless they are very small and not rumbling at all. They can go and live with their Daddy at first. Please say if you need help in finding guaranteed good homes for so many pups.

Thanks for the advice Weibke :) I'll weigh them when I get there and will make sure she weighs them every day. In terms of homes it depends what sex they are, which ones get along and things like that. I know mum is phoning the vets tomorrow to see what they advise in terms of when they can be taken to be sexed (don't want to upset them when they were only born this morning in the early hours)
I'll post on here when they've been weighed and I'll put a picture of them as well.
Is it really ok to handle them this soon? I'm worried about Phoebe rejecting them if they smell of people... but then I've never had baby piggies before so I don't know.

Congratulations! Wow Phoebe must have been huge! Yes you can handle early, I would just say not for too long or away from mum too far.

She could hardly waddle bless her. Having said this on Thursday I saw her run the full length of her hutch and back again :)) daft as a brush.
The hutch is inside, by the way. Mum likes them better than cages :))

UPDATE!
The piggies have been to the vets. Mum and five babies are perfect and healthy. One (the runt) is very tiny so the vet said it could be fine but keep an eye on it. One is having trouble with its back legs but has feeling in them so we are to make sure it eats and keep a close eye on it. If things don't improve it will have to be put to sleep :(
A bittersweet update really. At least mum and most babies are fine. I'm sure the runt will be fine as my Poppy was a runt and although still small she's perfectly healthy.
Please send out some positive vibes for the tiny pig and the ill pig - they could really use them.

Good news for such a large litter!

There are usually problems with large litters; there will be runts and pups that suffer from the problems of too little space in the belly.

The back legs have probably just been too cramped for too long in the belly and should be coming to life over the next day or so; it's not rare in big litters. Your mum can try and gently massage them every now and then to help stimulate the nerves. As long as your ill piggy is able to lift its head and feed and is trying to moving around, the chances are actually very good of it making it.

WOW 7! :o Well done Phoebe! :) Glad most are doing well, sending vibes for the runt and ill piggy. :(

PS: I watch your videos on youtube. ;) I'm mypamperedpets :)

When our Honey had her babies, one had problems with its back legs and passed 3 days after it was born, i did some research and you ca actually manipulate their legs a bit and try and get them to be as normal as possible. I have my fingers crossed for the poorly 2 though, well done to mummy and the other 5 babies xx
