I Think Maple Has An Abscess :(

Well the lump/capsule has not improved any with antibiotics. Back to vet today to get it lanced and drained :( He says the original abscess from her tooth has cleared up but has now travelled down her lymph nodes. He isn't keen to surgically remove it as its likely associated with lymph glands and lots of nerves under the chin.
He's just using a touch of gas this time to sedate her so hopefully she'll be alright during the op

@furryfriends (TEAS) I am attempting to flush Maples abscess today the vet left a bigger opening this time and advised me not to flush last night as he had packed it but to flush today. I'm certain I have opened up the wound and I can sort of see in to it. I'm gently squeezing it and nothing is coming out. Should there definitely be puss every time? Thanks.

Here's a photo of the incision. I have prized it open and cleaned it. I put a syringe in and flushed but it all just came running back out. There doesn't seem anywhere inside the incision for the saline to go if that makes sense. Is this normal? There are no hard lumps around the wound. All soft and saggy.

Looking good. Just keep removing any scab that forms xx

Been flushing the abscess daily but maybe wasn't going in deep enough. Today the area felt a bit harder. Inserted a blunt tip needle in as wasn't sure the incision site was open fully through the the inner side if that makes sense. Squeezed a bit and oh my god :vom::vom: the gunk and the smell! Vile! Got quite a bit of gunk out and gave it a good flush right in to the inside of the wound. Pulled off the scab from the first abscess and got a tiny bit of non smelly puss out of there too.
Is it weird the maple was trying to eat the gunk?:vom: she also nibbled on a bit of cotton wool ball
