I think my guinea may have a cyst

We noticed last night that our guinea had a huge lump on his neck. This morning my son called me at work and said that his fur was wet. I went home and white cottage cheese like pus is oozing out of it. Is this something I can treat myself, without a vet visit? I squeezed as much as I could out of it. It doesn’t seem painful for him.

I would still recommend to check with a vet. I am doing the same with my elderly Hafren, whose larger cyst that was under observation burst yesterday, just to make sure that it cannot get infected (as my Tesni's did last year, sitting right next to the genitals). Hafren is a bit too old and frail to risk an operation unless absolutely necessary.

Oooo it's nasty and definitely a cyst. Unfortunately you can't get rid of it without a vet. My late boar had one on his back and due to his age and underlying health problems we couldn't risk operating to remove it. He lived til 7 but that last year I had to empty and clean that cyst several times. It's not pleasant
