My usually lively, noisy, greedy pig is very not herself today.

I popped out to do my usual visit and sit with them for half an hour and clean the cage out and she didn't come to greet me or run downstairs for fruit and veg like she usually does.

She wouldn't move from the bed so I picked her up and popped her downstairs while I cleaned the top and she sat hunched up in a ball. I gave her some apple and she sniffed it but didn't eat it.

I cleaned the bottom and she walked slowly up the ramp and flopped into the bed with her head resting to the side.

Something is wrong but I do not know what. She is around 6 years old so I know she is old but she has been really healthy until now. I don't think it is a respiratory infection because her breathing is fine and I haven't heard her cough. Her eyes are fine but really sunken into her little head and dull.

Does anyone have any idea? I will be taking her to the vet tomorrow but I would like to know what sort of thing to tell her.

Thank you

Hi, I'm not an expert but when a guinea pigs eyes are sunken it's usual a sign of dehydration, has she been drinking?
Hope she gets better :-)

The water bottle was half full so I think she must have drunk some. It's hard to tell because there are two of them.

I've just popped out to see them and she looks a little more lively! Fingers crossed

Is she eating at all? is there any way of bringing them both inside so you can monitor her? If she was hunched up it tends to be a pain response. Hopefully the vet will give you Metacam at least.

Unfortunately I can't bring them in, it wouldn't be safe for them as we have three dogs. I am monitoring her closely and she seems to have perked up a little.

I will see how she is tomorrow and take her to the vet if she hasn't improved :)

Sad to report that Costa passed away last night :(
