Hi all, my 3 year old guinea pig seems to be all puffed up in the corner, not eating or drinking anything since last night. I fear she might have the bloat, her stomach is extended outwards and never seems to move. Should i be worried?

Hi there and welcome to the forum from us in OZ :)
Can you get to a vet a.s.a.p. ? ? ?
First off i'd ring the vets, and meanwhile make your piggy warm and comfortable make sure you give them some water and try to offer hay and veggies. If you tap your piggies tummy does it sound hollow and can you hear any rumbles coming from the tummy ?

I will ring the vet asap, i have tried tapping her on the stomach but i do not know whether its a hollow sound or not. i can hear her stomach churning and gurgling.

OK another thing i've found that can help is gently put your piggie with it's back towards your tummy and have your hand under it's front paws so it's tummy is exposed and gently with your fingers 'play the piano' in other words you're gently massaging the tummy and helping it to perhaps pass what was in there, also can you give your piggie some water they must not dehydrate or not eat for too long :(
Good you ring the vets a.s.a.p. O0 O0 O0
Best of luck let us know how things go love :)
Sending healing wheeks for your little precious one :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

ok will do :) , a minute ago, i was giving her some attention and i passed her some carrot and hay. She nibbled the carrot and started eating the hay. but still no water. She keeps refusing to drink :( Do you have any idea if this will need surgery on her?

I'm sorry love the vet needs to see her :)
Hopefully no surgery and just medication to help her O0 O0 O0
Try offering water off a spoon or even a small syringe O0
(sorry got to disappear for a bit to pick up my daughter from work, i'm in Australia - i'll be back in 1/2hr and check up again then)

hi
How is she this morning? I'd see a vet yep O0 but if you can't then have you got any olive oil? Or vegetable oil?
If you give her a teaspoon of that through a syringe and gently massage her tummy and play the piano as Glynis said, this should help :smitten: Or you can crush a rennie tablet and mix with 2.5 ml of water and then crush a buscopan and mix with 1.5 ml water and syringe them one after the other, leave for half an hour and then give her a massage O0 but i don't know if you'll be able to get those :-\
Anyway, using either of those has always helped my pansy when she's had bloat O0
