Junior Guinea Pig
I got him from a breeder only 2 weeks ago thank you for the helpHi and welcome
This looks like the potential start of ringworm. Please see a vet during regular opening hours for vet grade treatment (either a medicated dip or an oral systemic).
How long have you got your piggies and where they have they come from?
Ringworm is the most aggressive and contagious (incl. species jumping) fungal skin infection. If it is confirmed, please follow our hygiene and treatment advice to the letter in order to avoid it turning into a long running exhausting saga.
The invisibly tiny spores, which are shed in their thousands can stay live for over two years and it is those that you need to get on top of. Please also be aware that it takes 10-14 days between infection and actual outbreak so you always need to treat all piggies. Just creaming will not reach all spores and will cause further outbreaks in other parts of the body as the piggies pick the dropped spores out.
Please take the time to read these links here carefully:

Here the link to our more extensive New Owners information collection. Tens of thousands of questions in nearly 20 years of forum existence have gone into our guides, which we have tried to make as clear and precise as possible. You may want to bookmark this and the ringworm link: Comprehensive Owners' Practical and Supportive Information Collection
We are here for any questions and moral support during treatment for as long as needed. For this reason, it would help both sides if you also bookmarked this your ongoing support thread so we can keep each case to just one thread.
Wishing you all the best.

Thank you so much so gutting that this has happened alreadyI'd have it checked by a vet. It looks like the start of a fungal infection to me, possibly ringworm.
It's really common in piggies and your vet will advise you and the correct treatment![]()
Dont worry about it - as I say it's really common in piggies, particularly those from pets shops. The vet will be able to get it sorted for youThank you so much so gutting that this has happened already

Don't forget all piggies will need treatment to prevent it spreading - and I would wear gloves when handling them as you can catch it from them.

Thank you he's doing ok eating his veggies will sort out his vet and treatment next weekPoor littyle Rye. I like his name, he is rye coloured ❤ I hope the problem goes away soon![]()
Thank you hopefully he will be fine funny thing was the breeder said they would have no problems lolUnfortunately we commonly see these issues in both breeder and pet shop piggies.
(The only way an owner can be sure piggies are completely healthy, properly sexed, and not pregnant is to rescue from a reputable rescue centre. These piggies will have undergone quarantine and been vet checked before being rehomed).
Make sure his companion is also checked by the vet as it will also spread to the companion as well.
Best wishes for their recovery
He said Thank youHope the vet can sort him out for you.

Yeah i will do thank you means alotPlease give the vet a call on Monday. Ringworm is not life-threatening (unless left untreated) but it is a total nightmare in terms of contagion if undertreated. The sooner you can start the better.
Please take the time to read our very comprehensive and precise ringworm guide link in our first post, which really tells you step by step what to do. If you do it properly, you can get on top of it in one go. It is going to be a rather intense 2-3 weeks max but that is it.
In nearly 20 years we have had ample time to find (usually the hard way) all the angles in which ringworm can be transmitted but also how to plug them. We are here to support you all the way with all the little questions and concerns that come up along the way.
What I would recommend is that you order some F10 disinfectant concentrate online straight away tonight. It is widely available and we have made very good experiences with it.
The concentrate has the advantage that it lasts you forever (and is therefore a lot cheaper). You can use it from high strength concentration for ringworm deep cleans to mid-strength for normal cage cleans to very low strength as an antiseptic for inhaling or abscess flushing etc.
It's one of the most useful things to have at home when keeping guinea pigs.![]()
