We have two heavily pregnant sows in the shelter at the moment. These pretty girls come from the last batch of rescues where a local breeder who was suppling to auctions has given up. Amber the aby is only expecting one or two and all the weight is currently hanging to one side and poor old Ruby can hardly move. I would think she's carrying 4 or 5.

Maybe they'll give me healthy Christmas day babies and bring a lovely end to the pregnancies for this year.

Amber today. The aby rosettes hide the bump quite well.

They are both so very beautiful, but Ruby is HUGE. I hope you have a list of Christmassy names ready for them. Good luck.

Your own little Nativity. How wonderful.

Wishing them both quick and easy deliveries xx

Wow Claire you'd told me she was big but bless her what a load to carry!
Hope her and Amber will be ok, look forward to hearing more news.
Good luck! :)p

Ruby is huge but is very cute....Hope all the be and it would be a neat xmas gift....bouncing ball on fur...Let us know when they are born...and show off them

aww what a blob! best of luck for the xmas girls :) we have 3 in the pregnant ward here but they are not nearly as far along

Do you have an expected ish due date (when did they arrive with you?)
Aer they still eating drinking healthy etc? If so I would not move them. I know it can be a stressful wait more for the watcher of a pregnant pig but as Fizz attested it can be better to wait and see than to move a pregnant sow is risky. I would givepleny of rasberry leaf and wait and see if it were me if they were eating and healthy. Good luck

Hi,

It's ok, don't worry, I have no intention of moving her. I have a friend who is a vet who will come here and check her over for me if need be, but thank you.

Christmas babies

Not a direct answer,but we had7 beautiful babies born on boxing day to two mums we and the mums dont seem to know which is whose baby but they are all doing well and settled happily together.:{

Sorry but still no babies. Poor Ruby is now so big that she looks like a cartoon character. When she goes to lay down her feet don't touch the floor.

She was with a boar the end of September so she's over due.
Please send minipig vibes as she needs to have these poor babies before she explodes.

If it was end of September, shouldn't she have had them some time ago? (I'm bad at maths, but surely she should have had them mid-Dec?)

Yup but that is relying on the info given from the person who handed her over and we both know how sometimes in a rescue situation the truth can be twisted.

I am getting concerned now as she's so very big. However, Ruby her companion hasn't given birth either yet and they all lived together.

Ho Hummm.

At long last three healthy babies were born to Ruby this afternoon. Both Ruby and Amber are doing a perfect job looking after them.

Amber's turn next....any day now.

What lovely news, I'm so glad that the waiting at least for Ruby is over. Now - come on Amber.

Here goes.

Baby 1...I think is a girl. Not 100% sure though.

Baby 2 is a boy. He has one rosette each side towards his rear.
