Hi there,

It’s been a while since I have posted but I am very stressed out.

Yin, my gorgeous little Abyssinian, has had some hair loss on her back legs and her tummy? She looks a little bit like a chicken! I’ve read on here that it could be cysts?

She seems fine, not very happy with being handled, but eating well, drinking normally and enjoying her hay as usual.

My main question is how soon should we arrange to see the vet? I work remotely but tomorrow is the one day I have to be in London so can’t take her then. I’m also off on annual leave next week, from the 7th… could it wait until then?

Of course if she stops acting normal and starts acting differently I will take her to the vets asap, but she seems okay for now?

To be honest, I’ve been really struggling with my mental health. With the state of the world and the fact I’m a naturally anxious person anyways, this has made me spiral a bit.

I’m so scared she’s going to need surgery, and then that of course means antibiotics which scares me even more to be honest…

I’ve felt her tummy and it’s nice and squishy and I can’t feel anything hard etc but I know that that doesn’t necessarily mean anything..

Please advise what I should do. Should I take her ASAP? Is it okay to wait until the 7th when I have a whole week off and can look after her better?

If you could post a picture of her as we may be able to see whether her hair loss pattern matches the typical cysts related hair loss or whether it might be hair loss for a different reason.

If it is cysts then it’s not an emergency for tomorrow but you should get an appointment booked for her; but if there is a chance she has a different issue (mites/fungal etc) then while it’s not necessarily a life threatening emergency it’s not something you want left too long

Of course! I think I automatically went to ovarian cysts because I assumed if it was fungal or something it’d affect the rest of my piggies too?

Please see pics attached.

We noticed she lost a little bit of hair on her legs initially, but wasn’t too significant. We had Covid so we weren’t handling them as much, and now we are well again so checking them over and she’s gotten quite bald poor thing 💔

Hi, sorry I didn’t click reply when updating with photos.

I have attached them, would love to know what people think.

As I said, she’s acting completely fine and eating well, munching on hay etc etc, no change in appetite. Just getting a bit bald poor thing!
