Hi! Well I was meaning to ask this for a long time now, is the normal green leaf lettuce actually bad? My mom read on some kind of blog website that it is bad because they spray chemicals on it and the leaf absorbs it so even with washing it has the chemicals in it. Is this true?

Personally, I do not feed lettuce. It is high in calcium and too much can cause bladder sludge. I know many people do feed it though.

Thanks! Do you think celery, peppers, cucumber, and carrots every other day would be enough?

This is what I feed,
1 piece cucumber
1 sprig of dill or coriander
1 small piece of spring green
1 piece green pepper
2 pieces of celery.

I feed this twice a day per piggy. I do not feed any fruit or carrot as it is high in sugar. The diet I feed is called the I.c diet. It is designed to prevent cystitis.

I feed my piggies about 1-2 different types of lettuce every day!

Lambs lettuce, green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, little gem lettuce, romaine lettuce... basically a big variety. I rotate which I feed, and I use prewashed salad mixes. And I give other veg in addition to the lettuces.

Could you link the blog that your mom read from? I feed one leaf of red or green leaf lettuce per day per pig. I know it's better than spinach or romaine as those can cause gas. I mean, really if you think about it, all the veggies you purchase from stores for your pigs/yourself are sprayed with things like pesticides and stuff unless you buy organic.

I feed Romaine lettuce only, and less than a leaf per piggy per day. They love it! I read that other lettuce can cause tummy upset and is not particularly nutritious anyway.

I feed a very similar diet to this as well but add a green bean to the diet. Also for my piggie (avatar) who has tummy problems to prevent a flare up of cystitis.

I feed green beans too but forgot! Lol.

Oooops! I should adjust the veggies I give mine. Especially the red leaf lettuce I give them. It makes up the majority of their veggie diet. I may actually just go off of your list here!

That would be great!
