Hi everyone, I have spent the majority of today cleaning guinea pigs and rabbits out. I have them all in the conservatory at the moment but would like to bring them into the main part of the house as I like to have them near. My partner thinks that I am mad and says they will look messy and nobody else has them in their living room! I am almost certain that some of you do have them in the lounge/dining/bedroom etc. So please can you post pics of your set up so I can show partner!

Thank you x

We have our guineas in the living room, and any guests we've had round have either gone gaga over them or just enjoyed having them around!
I don't have any pigtures of our setup as it's just changed today, but we have one pair on the left, by the front door, and one pair on the right, by the kitchen :)

Thank you, will show the other half that I am not mad! My problem is I have 2 together then 3 on their own. One of the lone ones was mine who doesn't like company but is quite happy being near the others. The other 2 were bought by a ex friend, she bought them at the same time but put them in different cages (not sure why), now i have tried them together they had a fight and one ended up with a chunk out of his ear. In the end she didnt want them and put them in shed and fed them once a day and didnt bother with them, so I took them on. Now I have huge cages and I need a solution that takes up less space but gives the pigs enough room if that makes sense.

If your piggies are happy to live next to each other, you could always make a C&C cage with dividers in. That way they can see, smell and interact with the other piggies without getting too close to cause any damage.
This page has lots of member builds that could give you some ideas :) http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?53210-Member-Gallery-C-amp-C-cages-homemade-cages
The materials don't always come cheap, but once you've got the grids you can chop and change, add hay racks, extra layers and so much more!
A 2 x 4 grids would work for 2 piggies, with 2 x 5 being enough for a group of 3.

woah... wiebke's is KING. I'm afraid I keep my girls in the hallway under the stairs.. it's open to the kitchen so that way guinea gets to see more people than she would if she was in any one room. We dont tend to use our living room much :/ Plus with the activity from the kitchen it's the warmest place in winter, and if we leave the garden door open, she will benefit from (non draughty) fresh air from the kitchen.

at play time she either comes upstairs with me, or I set up the hallway with blankets and toys, hides etc. I put all her food down and I put all plastic bags out of reach She has the entire hallway (about 23ft?).. she an roam the kitchen too but doesnt go in unless someone else is in their too. I'm lucky because she comes when called and is a dream to pick up, reaches up when you bend down so I dont worry about chasing her all over the house!

P.s. Note my crappy tent cover excuse in the right corner :P I'll be getting that replaced with a double decker hammock by lovely Emily soon! Thanks Emily!

Aww that's a lovely set-up too! :)

My 5 pigglywigs are in the living room!

Like you - I have a bonded pair and 3 separate boars so with the bird too that's 4 huge cages in the living room hehehehe!

Tell your OH it's the best place for them!

Here's mine - it's in my front room! We have fairy lights too, wish I'd put them on for the pic! It's a 6x2 C&C cage!

It's not really a very good picture but I have mine in my living room too. They are at the bottom of the stairs as this is away from draughts and radiators, also it's very central so they get plenty of chances to squeak at anyone passing by. And a good view of the fridge in the kitchen ha ha!

I absolutely love having them inside, they were so wild when they came but they have had to get used to human company and are now quite friendly. I'm sure they tamed quicker inside than they would have done if they were living in my shed.

If anybody visited and objected to them I'd ask the visitor to leave. But most people like them as much as I do and often when we have visitors you can find us all sitting round the gp's house, just watching them. As long as they are cleaned out regularly they don't stink up the place either.
