Well, someone emailed me asking me to take their one year old boar and since I got 6 piggies adopted out I figured I had the space and agreed. Well, the person doesn't want to bring him here, he wants me to meet somewhere (even though it's not very much more to him and I'm doing a favor for him) and I did the "well you bringing him here is the best but I guess..." and so he didn't take the hint and we set up a time for us to meet. I then told him we asked for a $10 donation fee for food, bedding, vet, gas, etc. and he flipped out and this is his response-

"Seeing as how I was giving with him a cage, two houses, water bottles, food bowl, timothy hay wheel, extra food, bedding and timothy hay that I have I do not see how a $10 dollar donation is justifiable. I guess I will just have to take him in to be put down. I did not think this would be such a hard pet to get rid of. He cost $30 dollars and the cage and accessories cost me about $80 so I think I paid my dues and I drive an SUV that gets bad gas mileage as well. Guess I will just have to give this a few more days with the others then just have him put down if no one wants him for FREE. Guess death of a pet is easier. I got rid of a cat in under 6 hours."
:tickedoff:
People are absolutely awful. I'm not giving him the satisfaction of saying "alright, forget the $10" because he's acting like a spoiled child. He made a commitment and the fact that he is trying to blackmail me with the poor piggy's life is horrendous. However, I don't know this person and whether or not he really will put the piggy down, so my Mum has agreed to go under cover for me ;D

What a horrible person! $10 is nothing! Aww poor pig for having such a horible owner!
I hope he comes back and pays the $10 for you kimmie :) and I hope he doesnt put that poor pig to sleep :tickedoff:

This guy needs reporting to someone," got rid of a cat?" wtf is he on >:( >:( >:( >:(
so its easier to put an animal down? grrrr hes made me angry

Its really sad that he thinks like that hey! What did hemean by "put it with the others" ?
Its cruel to put them down and if he has others then... >:(
Doesnt it cost money to put animals to sleep?
It cost $90 for my poor doggy :'(

Sadly it's common over here too... I'm getting a new rabbit from someone who my OH works with, he's a beautiful neutered 2 and half year old Hustlander but she's emigrating in 10 days. The home she found him didn't work out (the yorkshire terrier was scared of him ;D) and having rung the rspca and rescues etc the only advice she's received is to have him pts. She apparently was distraught at work, so we've agreed to have him - probably to keep if my own buns don't mind, but if not I'll get him a new home

If I were a vet I'd refuse to pts a healthy animal but sadly many don't >:( :(

OMG thats horribke :( And why do people always assume 'putting them to sleep' is cheaper/free compared to a donation fee?! Grr.

:tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: ooo makes my blood boil these dam morons (i have restrained myself from what i really think) :tickedoff:

Kimmie you do a wonderful job and i hate to see you treated like this <hugs> :smitten: :smitten:

That's like £6. I hope he crashes into a tree >:(
Does he mean he'll do it himself? Cat in 6 hours?
He's a nonce.

I have no clue what he means.

I replied- "I’m sorry that you feel that way, but he’s your guinea pig and it’s your decision. Hopefully somebody else will come forward and adopt him rather than him being put down. When you got him you got the responsibility that came with him. Pets are not disposable and trying to blackmail me with his life is absolutely horrendous."

And then he replied with a rant. Of which I understood 1/2. I'm not giving him the satisfaction of dropping the fee because he's acting like a spoiled, mentally retarded child. However, my Mum has agreed to email him with a "omg how CUTE! I totally want him for my daughter's birthday..." and we'll get the piggy that way. My Mum will ask for him to write a letter saying that he relinquishes all rights, etc. so that 'her daughter doesn't get attached and then the piggy is taken away' and then when the piggy is on Petfinder or on my website being adopted out to a good home he can't do anything about it.

By the way, Lucinda, you go girl! Tell it like it is! O0

What an absolute waste of space. I'll never understand how people can be so cruel and ungrateful.

what a piece of poo ( being polite here) hope you get the poor little thing sounds as if he keeps getting animals only to get bored with them again in a short time , what goes around comes around, he'll get his maybe his mum w :tickedoff:ants to get rid of him, I would, I am so glad my 5 kids appreciate and love animals :smitten:

what a complete oxygen stealer. I cant believe any vet would just put a heathly creature down! Unless money is their motivator, in which case they are in the wrong profession! >:(

I totally admire the work you do hun as looking after 2 of mine is hard enough, let alone taking on others for adoption!

I hope he wakes up and sees the light or the end of someones boot in his face....

2funny! Nice one StanynUK!
Yes I too hope he see's a boot in his face soon!

lmao @ oxygen stealer and boot in his face,i love that

What a loser. People like him shouldn't be alowed to own animals if they're just gonna toss them to one side when they've had enough of the responsibility of them, just like a child with a toy they have got bored of..........uuuggghhhhh it makes you soooo angry :tickedoff:

Any update on how/where the piggy is now?

'get rid of it' what the hell?!?!?! Who says that?!?!?!

It makes me so mad!! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: >:( >:( And getting 'rid' of a cat in 6 hours is doable if you pass it on to the nearest person remotely interested without even checking on how the cat would be looked after.

People that treat animals like this should be put down!! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

Good idea about you mum as well, i know exactly what you mean, he basically used the poor animals life to blackmail you! thats awful i understand why you didnt make the fee vanish, i would have done the same! Well done on taking the piggie, all your piggies are so lucky to have a lovely mum O0 :smitten:

Please let us know what happens next - whether your mum has any success getting the piggie.

Much of the time the vet will agree to put the animal to sleep, take it round back and after the shift they will take it to a rescue or rehome the animal themselves.

There are no words to explain how cruel this man (if that is what you can call him) is being, I hope the guinea gets a new home, you never what people are capable of. :tickedoff:

Thats why I wanted to be a vet... to help stop innocent (healthy!) animals being PTS! But ive decided too much school ;D

This totally sucks >:(

The vets main job is to preserve life by putting a healthy animal to sleep they have gone against the industry and are not doing the job they have spent years training for.
