Hello all

Quick question.

It's my closest friends birthday tomorrow and she's asked us all to go to Blackpool for the day and night.

I'm being picked up at 12.15pm tomorrow (Sat) and will be back home a similar time on Sunday.

I'm already panicking - My German Shepherd is going to my mums (his nans :) ) tomorrow morning and I feel I should take Jamie and Max over too. My mum said this is fine.

I've never travelled with them both in the car though and am a little worried to confuse them. What really is better for them? I've cleaned their cages out tonight, they've plenty of brocolli and parsley on hand.

Should I leave them at home with lots of food, hay, veg and water or take them in the car to my mums?

Thanks in advance x

Do you have aircon in your car, it will be really hot for them. Also, are your guineas indoors or outdoors at home? They may be better off kept cool at home stocked up on food, hay water etc, than making a hot journey. Whereabouts are you in Warrington? xx

Hello!

I do have air con in my car. My mums house is less than a 5 min drive away.

I'm in Lower Walton area. My piggies are kept indoors.

BTW - Max is soooo coming out of his shell :)

Thank you for introducing us x

If it were mine, I would leave them at home, well stocked, as Nutmeg said. Can you not arrange for your mum or somebody else to just look in on them? They would only need to go once. If not though, I'd think they should be fine on their own for 24 hours as long as you leave them with enough of everything :)

Thank you both for your advice.

The thought of transporting them tomorrow was already worrying me.

I can't believe I didn't think of handing my mum a key to drop by.

I will have them stocked up, water bottles full, lots and lots of hay and food and ask that my mum drives by to check they are ok.

Now I feel silly staring a thread

Thanks again! x

Sorry I thought your mum was in Blackpool. (I have had a hard night at work) ha
I remember now.
Glad Jamie and Max are doing well.
xx

Oh Max is a darling. He was pretty shy when he first came to live with us but now he's as sociable as anything! He runs up to me now when he can see me - I never thought that would happen.

...and I hope you get to unwind after such a long day.

Have a wonderful weekend x

Didn't Max come from me hun? I am so glad he is doing well. Can I see a pic if you have one please?

I would also leave them at home, with loads of food. Because they'd probably be happier at home, in their normal surroundings.

But if you're really worried about them, then maybe ask your mum to call in on them during the day once or twice and see if they have water and stuff?

Also, it might just be my pigs, but when I first got my girls (from a pet shop she they were very nervous still) I took them to the vet and they seemed to love the car! Normally they would have just hidden from me, so I put a pile of hay in the carrier, but they were running around, coming up to the bars, looking out the windows and at me. It seemed to calm them for some reason.
