So, after cleaning the shed I quite often get my mat out and go and sit in the piggie pen with something yummy for my girls and Einstein. I have:

  • The usual suspects that are quite happy to eat my feet and clamber over me to get some food - Leah, Flossie, Jessica and Willow
  • Piggies that are more happy with all 4 feet on the ground but will come pretty close - Tigger, Munchie, Muffin and Bean
  • Some that I have to reach over to before they'll take noms - Izzy, Butterscotch and Panda
  • The 'nuh-uh's - the piggies that point blank refuse to come over - Einstein, Tess, Jenny, Kalani, Skye

Well, today, two piggies graduated from 'nuh-uh, you can keep your noms' to *creeps a little closer but still far away enough to be comfortable* "if you reach over with that nice looking spinach leaf I'll take it off you!". Einstein, who is the biggest wimpy boar ever finally decided after about 20 minutes that he'd come over and have some. He has come up to me before now when I've got something nice, but he's generally a 'nuh-uh' pig. Skye, bless her, was eyeing the spinach up for a little while and eventually made her way over with the super brave posse as back up and kept coming back for some food when she realised I had something realllly yummy!

Baby steps, but this is the first time in almost a year that Skye's come up to me for food, so I was thrilled! Just got to win over Tess, Jenny and Kalani now! The day I win Tess over will probably see some tears on my part... Jenny and Kalani are very aloof young 'uns so I won't hold my breath with those two!

Arrw thats awesome! this is currently my situation with the 2 boars i just recued but they are firmly in the "nu uh" status. i was winning them over but a well meaning friend scarred the poop out of them the other day and now I'm back to square one.

have to get some piccies of even a video of them up :)

Aww! That's adorable when they start to trust you.

I've been thrilled to see Romano and Arthur now pretty much trust me with everything.

It feels so rewarding. :)

Hope the trust continues to build!

well done einstein and skye its great fun to take veggies from slaves hands.

I have yet to win silver over as he is a bit daft in the skittish depatment but after a year now minty is thinking about taking food off me, crystal and fudge got brave during the winter and nothing stops them now :))

That's great, just goes to show that they will trust you in their own time!
