Having had the girls since Friday and spent hours looking around the forum I have been thinking about changing the girls bedding from the 'traditional' sawdust and hay to fleece. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to make the transition easier for them? I will also be making them some snuggle sacks and wondered what the best dimensions are for these as a rule? Any other tips gratefully received!

Oooo and by the way.....Daisy-Cakes popcorned for the first time last night and Millie-Pig did it too this morning so I think they are settling in okay! :))

:(|) What lovely names x)
The girls will love fleece so just go for it...we went from fleece to vetbed last year without a problem apart from the piggies wouldn't stop popcorning whilst investigating the new stuff rolleyes
I find vet bed more efficient although pricey to start with, it lasts ages and doesn't need changing so often, fleece I had to change daily mallethead
Shop around for stuff, think Primark are doing fleeces again for a few pounds :))

Lovely, thankyou! I have a store near to me that sells vetbed so will check that out and I have a lovely little haberdashery that i visit far too often so get a great price on fleece aswell! I'm hoping the girls will love it, they didn't get alot of enrichment with their previous owner and seem to be thriving on the playthings we have been giving them! All ideas thanks to this forum! So glad I found it! x)

Everyone makes them differently - but I would say for an average sized piggy a finished size of about 9"x10",but if yours are bigger pigs then 11x12".

Obviously if you want one they can share you'll have to go bigger.

You sound like a lovely owner and I feel the same about our piggies - they are very spoiled. You could always do the pens in fleece and have the sleeping areas in vet bed, it stays dry for days.
I use these suppliers as we have 18 piggies so buy a variety of 10ft rolls:

This supplier recently offered me 30ft of bedding for less than £70 as it was a slight second but I couldn't find any flaws...:{

Brillliant Guinea Pig Slave, will go have a look! 8:)

I am new to Guineas, never had them before in my life but have been reading up for weeks and like I said before, this site has been invaluable! And everyone is soooo lovely! I really am trying to give them a much better life than the one they came from and they seem to be responding so must be doing something right! lol :)) Thanks again for the links! x

Wow! The peeegs...they LOVE it! x)

Went out this morning, got lots of fleeces, purple, leopard print, grey leopard print and orange paw print!, a tunnel, new pigloo thingy and they couldn't be happier! I have also made them a matching tent for the corner and they have had some fresh grass from the garden which disappeared before i could get the camera out! rolleyes

Now to try and get some pigtures up! :{

Full of love for my peeegs right now! x
