I have just read that Guinea pig shopping list. And it says:

- Iceburg Lettuce (low nutrition, high water)

I've always given my guinea pigs that one. Because we have that in our salads and there is always some left which we give to my guinea pigs.

So it's not doing her no good? :(

Iceburg lettuce is far too high in nitrates for gps,it should never be given to them/All other varieties are safe given in moderate amounts and preferably, not every day. Romaine lettuce is the best variety as it does have some vitimin C.

Ah k thanks and mm..i'll have to switch the lettuce then. i didn't know it is too high in nitrates :S

I just replied to your other thread...I didn't know it was high in nitrates.
I wouldn't feed it to piggies or any of my other animals.I did ONCE (only cause I ran out of romaine and couldn't get any until the next day).I never gave them it since tho!

yeah, thanks lol i posted this thread twice by accident.

Ok...i haven't feed my guinea pig iceberg since i made this thread. I told my mum about it and i've asked her if i can get another type of lettuce when we go shopping. i have/am starting to get a type of lettuce like this:
