I recently adopted a young guinea off of Craigslist from a woman who got the guinea for her kid but decided they couldn't keep him anymore and she wasn't any help on his age, but I did a successful introduction with him and my MrRox and both are getting along very well. His name is Skippy, like the peanut-butter, and I gave him a few days to chill before I scooped him up for a weigh-in. Here is a photo with them next to one another.

Rox is the black abby, he is 1280grams and will be 2yrs old in March 2016. The newbie is 750grams and I'm thinking he is between 5-7 months old?
Any guesses would be great!

I don't think you'd be far off with the weight given as a guess. Mr Rox and Skippy look lovely together  Hopefully the start of a wonderful friendship. Hope to see lots more of them both as Skippy settles in.

Lovely boys, hope they continue to get along great.
Did the previous owner say how long they had had him? and was he a baby when they had him or not?
Only reason I ask is I have recently found weight sometimes doesn't indicate age, I have a 5 year old boy who only weighs 920 grams...just to through a spanner in the works!
I normally look at their claws, if they're 'thick' then they're normally at least a year, if they're little pin pricks still and quite spikey then they're definitely quite young, the older the pig the more well developed and thickened the claws are. I my experiences anyway... :)

No idea about ages but they are a lovely looking pair, hope they continue to get along, I love a success story. Well done for rehoming him.

The lady wasn't very helpful and just seemed happy to find someone to sell him too. But his nails are very pointy and short on his front feet, so less then a year? I will be weighing him every week and see how many grams he gains and add that info here. c:

Both of them seem to be getting along, Skippy is pushy with Rox and MrRox just lets him be pushy. Very funny to watch them interact.

My 5 month old girls are around the 650g-750g mark so a 5/6 month age sounds about right.

Hey , please bear with me I new lol but I was wondering how old would my pig be if he ways just over 2lb please

I would say with pointy, sharp nails he is under a year. Hadley just turned one and has made the transition to thicker 'adult' nails. They look very cute together! :)

Once they're adults, it's hard to make a guess from weight. Just like humans, the adult weight of pigs can vary considerably without the age being a factor.
