So, I have 4 guinea pigs in 3 adjoining c and c cages now. I doubt I'll be able to bond the 2 dominant senior ladies, but if I could, what would people think is an ideal, rather than minimum c and c cage size for 4?

The group would be 2 sedate senior ladies, 1 active senior lady and 1 crazy 9 month old neutered boar.

At the moment overall, there's 5.5 x 4 c and c cage space.

The recommended size for four piggies is a 6x2 c&c (converts roughly to 18 sq ft). (a 4x2 for two piggies, then additional two grids per additional piggy)
Therefore if you were to remove all dividers and keep it as a 5.5x4 c&c, then your cage measurements would convert to roughly 27 sq ft so well beyond the recommended requirements
(minimum for four would be 12 sq ft (8sq ft for two, plus an additional two square feet per additional piggy).

If you have a crazy little boar who might annoy the senior ladies then adding a little 1x2 "man loft" for him might be a plan, our boar Theo bonded with 2 senior ladies and 2 younger ones (3 years ago) when he was 6 months old and I think having a little loft space he could go to when he had annoyed the ladies too much was a big factor in keeping the peace! If he had too much energy or got chased off by the ladies he just zoomed up and down the ramp a million times then patrolled his man space making boy smells and rumbling :)
He still enjoys his man loft space but mostly just sleeps up there and eats hay now, occasionally his favourite wife Lady Puggle might join him up there if she's in the mood for romance, but the older ladies have never bothered!

Lol man loft, love it. Sounds a great idea. Glad it worked well with your boy.
