Baz is 4 and has not been well the vet weighed him to day and he was 1083g. Is that ok . Has the vet never said nothing

It really depends on what he usually weighs. It can be really useful to weigh your guineas weekly as a loss of weight can be the first indication that there is a health problem.

I have a full grown adult boar weighing just under 1200g. I have younger males (around 5 months) weighing around 800g. Our previous boars weighed 1050g & 1150g their whole adult lives until they got ill.

If Baz is normally 1300g & is now 1083g then that would be a weight loss I would be concerned about but if he normally weighs 1100g & is now 1083g then I wouldn't worry.

The important thing is to weight him regularly from now on. I weigh poorly piggies daily, their weight can drop off really fast if they are ill & you may need to hand feed to compensate for this.

I hope this is helpful :)

I have never weigh him before but has he is Ill I have been told to weigh him every day

In all honesty no guinea pig will have an ideal weight it really depends on the size of the animal in question.

I have 3 boys, all completely different weights but all very much healthy. One at just 900 grams my heaviest tipping the scales at 3lbs. The only way to tell is to, as mentioned above, keep on weighing him from now on and watch out for any changes, write it down and monitor it as much as possible, the odd couple of grams here and there can be just down to simple human error but much more than that you should take him back to the vets. If you ever worried about wether weight loss is to much or not you can always ask here :)

Yest baz weigh 1068g today i weigh. Him he is 1056g he has stopped drinking am having to syringe feed him and syringe water as well i think he is giving up when i try to give it him he just trys to hide his face or turns his back how often do you think i should do this i have been doing this every couple hours think he is getting peed off with me

Look at the handfeeding guide here http://www.guinealynx.info/handfeeding.html

It is so important that you get food into him. If he is getting worse then it is also of real importance that you get him to an experienced exotics vet, delay is dangerous in these situations.

I hope Baz will have a better day today x

My very spirited 3 year old is 950gms normally. I think he has a high metabolism, judging by all the darting he does!
