Hi all, looking for ideas on how to make our pig’s cage more interesting for them. We have a 120x60 indoor cage where our two girls spend most of their time (they have floor time in the living room 4-5 times a week which they seem to enjoy)

I wanted to have some kind of second level in their cage, with either a ramp, or that they’d be able to jump onto. Bellatrix is a jumper, her sister Ginny not – so the second option would only be accessible for one pig. I don’t want to spend a lot of money, so looking for homemade ideas for how we can extend the cage a bit, or make it more interesting in other ways.

Currently they have a tunnel made out of a box, a large cardboard tube to run through, a shelter under a bit of cardboard, a fleecy bed (which they haven’t been seen sleeping in yet! And a cuddle sack thing which they sit on, rather than in!

Suggestions and ideas all welcome and particularly interested in 2nd levels!

A good place to start is here:

Lots and lots of fantastic ideas on how to make the most of pretty much any cage!

Also if you post a photo of your current set up it might help people come up with more specific advice for you.

When mine were in a cage similar to the one you describe they had a hay tray at one end which they loved to burrow in. Here is Mistletoe demonstrating hay tray fun

They also had a child's plastic stool to hide under. Jingle's turn to show you this time

The chill n chew mat (under the log bridge) was quite popular as was and still is a wicker tunnel filled withnyummy hay.

I never did get round to making a ramp to the shelf for them. They are now in a c and c cage.

Have fun finding lovely things for them!

Thanks for the replies! Looking forward to the hay borrow I will create later! Just out of interest how often do you need to replace the hay in that area? Mine are quite messy!

Also meant to ask did you make the loft yourself or was it built in?

Will try Nd post pictures later!

Thanks again

ive he same cage as flowerfairy,it has a built in messane.with mine ive adapted the ramp with carpet cat scratcher.the flooring to the messane is grid wire, which is not appropriate for guinea pigs.i place a puppypad, and a very thick fleece liner over it.place a hay tray and hidey on that level.this cage is 5 feet in length and 77cm in width.you could use a wooden shelf/correx to build a ramp and second level.
