Hello everyone,
We have set up a guinea pig boarding kennels in Shropshire. We have all the necessary items, ie, lighting, heating in winter, fans in summer, choice of food, hay, choice of bedding, different hutches toys, runs etc. We also cuddle the guinea pig everyday.
But we want to go the extra mile and do something that no other boarding kennels does. Any suggestions?
What would you like to see? What would make you choose us instead of somewhere else?
All ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I just saw your other post. Welcome to the forum. Do you have piggies yourselves? I am guessing so..

One thing we look for and it isn't in the way of facilities is to know you have a experienced vet nearby in case a piggie becomes poorly while staying? Also if you offer a medication service for example if a piggy staying requires something like daily metacam etc...

I think another important factor is the size of the accommodation and if you provide veggies daily too.
A guinea savvy vet is also very important too.
What experience do you have?

We have a very good local vet that we use regularly. We do have guinea pigs, we have been keeping them for over 5 years now, having starting off with 2 rescue pigs that needed a lot of TLC. But that got us hooked, They are so addictive, aren't they? We have had a few rescue pigs over the years but at the moment we have 4, Bentley, Badger, Cheeky and Margo. Bentley is our Mascot!

For me it would be a mixture of things - size and type of accommodation, experience of care-giver, proximity to piggy-savvy vet, updates on how the animals are doing (ie. Texts, facebook etc) fresh veggies and my all-time biggest 'wish-for' - a web-cam!

I realise the web cam is probably unrealistic but piggy knowledge is a must. I need to feel secure in the knowledge that my boarding facility recognises the subtle signs that something's 'not quite right' and that they'll get taken to a vet with good piggy knowledge if necessary. And being a terrible worrier, updates to say that they're all still alive and not missing me a bit are always VERY reassuring!

Texting to people abroad can be costly. Although not sure if it is just the person abroad who gets the additional charges.
I update facebook and the galleries on my website :)
