Well, we've had the Pichu Brothers for nearly 6 weeks now and I still can't tell them apart. :D

They're identical in appearance. They are short-haired selfs and, from what I can tell, somewhere in between lilac and chocolate, with ruby eyes. (I've finally located our camera, so I will post some pigtures in the next few days).

I've studied them for hours and hours and can't spot anything to distinguish one from the other. In fact, I've just weighed them. And, yes, you've guessed it, their weights are identical ;D 880g each - they're about 5 months old.

Sometimes, we we have them on our laps, one seems a bit more fidgety than the other. But, I can't tell if it's the same one or they're taking it in turns!

Has anyone got any suggestions or tips?

I've got this vision of someone peering at their guineas with a magnifying glass! I expect as they get older they'll develop a bit differently as they get more character (I take it they are young ones?). You could give one a tiny haircut somewhere - like just trim the ends, or something like that - it'll grow back of course though! Don't know really what to suggest! They sound like they've been cloned!

I also think as they mature you will be able to tell them apart by the way they act, when purdey had 5 babies 2 were identical and we called them biscuit and cookie but as they got older cookies fur grew a lot longer in certain places

I agree with what has already been said - they will probably be easier to tell apart as there personalities develop as they get older. Until then - no idea!

when are bunnies where born we couldnt tell the differnce between the white ones so the vet nurse wrote F for female on a sticker and put it on a thick piece of fur and that helped! she didnt no it was there and we took it off when she went ot my nans!

We're not using a magnifying glass yet, but we do have 4 pairs of eyes looking lovingly at Pichu and Pichu, and not one has spotted a difference in appearance yet! :)

I do like the idea of giving one of them a little haircut. That might work.

cut the hair where its longest or thickest then your notice it, and when you see it gettin longer cut it again i no id forget if i tried that luckily tia and maria can be told apart on inspection but from a distance i cant!

:) Why don`t you mark one of their ears with a permanent pen marker to tell them apart, just a small dot will do :)

A friend of mine uses a dab of nail varnish on a toe of certain pigs, works for her ;D
