Do you leave the guinea pigs out in their run whilst you are out? I haven't been putting them out on the days that I go to the office, because I'm paranoid that it might rain and they would be on damp grass for the rest of the day. But in the summer, when the weather is more settled, do you think it is OK to leave them out?

They have a traditional wooden run with a covered area at one end. I usually put one or two little houses in for them if they feel like a rest, plus some toys like a tunnel. If I am out, I am gone from 8am to 7pm.

My husband won't touch them at all, so I can't rely on him to put them inside if it rains.

mine are out all the time at the moment but their runs are covered completey and secure But if you are not sure then i'd leave them inside x

mine are only out on the grass when i am at home i worry about if it rains or the blankets i use for shade blow off if it gets windy my hubby doesent like touching the guinea pigs either but my ten year old son is very good with them

I have a run with a hutch area so if it does rain they have some shelter. I leave them in it while I go shopping and on the school run. Not sure I would do it for a whole day but just while in it and out I feel ok with that. :)

Personally I wouldn't leave them out for that amount of time. I leave mine out if I quickly pop to the local shop or something. Saying that though, I am just too over protective. It drives OH crazy

Mine are kept indoors all the time - however, whenever I'm home I leave their cage door open so that they can come and go as they please.

i'm out at work all day too... i leave mine in their runs on the patio with old towels underfoot so they don't get cold. the grass is always too wet first thing to put them on that. the runs are both really secure and have a shaded bit.

they also have shade and tunnels and pigloos to go in that are full of hay to snuggle in. i watch the weather forecasts like a hawk and if it looks like rain they have an old shower curtain over the run!

I only leave mine outside if someone else is in the house to check on them throughout the day. I'm to scared a dog, cat or magpie will try getting them if no ones there to watch them so they stay in on those days :)

They might be ok. I would only leave them out if they were 100% safe, and the run was heavy, weighted down (maybe with bricks on top?) and had a good cover over to keep them dry. If you knew the weather was going to be ok all day I don't see the problem. Mine stay out all day when I'm not around

My mum and dad work all day most of the time and my brothers at school, hes highly allergic to piggies and dogs so he doesnt get near them anyway.

Mine go out at 7:30am and come back in at 7pm weather permitting, as long as the runs are secure and on even ground, I cant see a problem with it.
