If you use vetbed do you need anything underneath it?

Still thinking about floor covering - am going with fleece and inco pad with newspaper at min but was reading good reviews about vetbed. Just wondering if you need all the layers with it. Sorry for all the questions!

Hi I just put some newspaper underneath the vet bed so the moisture has somewhere to go to. Saves a soggy hutch bottom.

I use a layer of newspaper and a towel on top of it, just because I found the newspaper got wet quickly and I had to change it every day, so I put a towel on top of the newspaper and now I only have to change it every 3 days when I change the vetbed

I would treat vetbed just like fleece with regards to layers, as it is also designed to wick pee through the pile and stay nice and dry on top.

When my girls were indoors through winter they had a vetbed 'bed' section. I used old towels, then puppy pee pads to soak everything up, then vetbed/fleece on top.

Ooh and like fleece, I wouldn't use any softener when washing ;)
