I'm afraid to say with all the problems Rodney has had lately I think maybe I have been missing signs from Cass maybe all is not well. She seems fine in herself, ie mental as usual and faster than a speeding bullet, but since seperating them due to Rodders ill health I have noticed she just doesnt drink water from her bottle. Should I be worried about this? TBH she may never have drank from the bottle but I couldnt tell when she was sharing with Rodney.
Also she is missing him like crazy (the feeling doesnt seem to be mutual however...) and she gnaws at the bars of her cage like a mad sow.... to try and get into Rodneys cage. Will she harm her teeth?

The bat chewing should calm down. You could move their cages away and see if this stops for a while. She may be getting all her moisture from wet veg, some piggies rarely use the bottle. Just make sure her veggies are dripping in water and she'll get her moisture from that. She may then only use the bottle if she feels thirsty.
Rodney is your piggie with teeth issues isn't he?

TBH whats wrong with Rodney is a bit of a mystery at the moment. Hopefully on tues will have an idea. Teeth are an issue but not sure if the only one,

You were trying to get an apt with Simon in Northampton weren't you. I hope you can get to the bottom of it. I would move the cages apart for now, especially of Rodney isn't bothered by having your girl by him. It should hopefully calm her down too.

Yeah unfortunately he is away at mo so booked in at local vets as just want him seen asap. He will be next port of call. Cheers

At times they do touch noses through the bars which is nice to see but mainly he just keeps himself to himself in his house whilst she is either hiding from us (petrified of humans unfortunately) or gnawing at the bars.

If you are worried about her, please have her checked over. it would also be a good idea to weigh her daily at the same time instead of weekly to get a better picture. Some guinea pigs are not drinking much.

As Rodney is not well at all, he won't be interested in company, whereas your poor girl is desperate for it. Things will right automatically right themselves once Rodney is feeling more like himself again. Touching noses is a very good sign!

I think health wise she is fine, certainly got plenty of energy. Main problem with her is getting her used to us. I know she will never be like the boys were, they were afraid of us to start with but soon calmed and we could happily let them be with us on the couch or let them roam free in the garden, but Cass I dont think we will ever be able to do that, she is so highly strung. The rescue centre said she was housed with 2 rabbits when they rescued her originally so that explains why she is so jumpy. Plus on the cash side I just cant afford to pay for 2 seperate vets bills right now. I'm happy she is healthy physically and will just give her wet veg to make sure she has water.

Thinknig I might have to start syringe feeding her water (although quite where the time will come from I dont know!). It will be very hard as she is so squirmy and her claws I like razors. I pick her up when I can to try and get her used to me and my hands bear many scars already!

You can easily tell where she has wee'd as its very yellow which I assume as in humans means she is dehydrated

Not necessarily - the colour of the pee also depends on what she's been eating. Peppers, carrots and beetroot can colour pee in all shades from yellow to pink/purple. Pee oxidises in contact with air and often get rustier the older the stain is.

But with her not drinking any water from the bottle I think she must be, I am trying to give her wet veg though. Is there any other method of drinking other than bottles/bowls as she hasnt taken to either

Some pigs are not big drinkers. The only other option is syringing water daily.

Do they have to be apart. I would only have mine separated if one of them had had an operation & had stitches in or had broken a leg or had something contagious. If they are used to being together it's best to have them together as they are more likely to eat more as there's competition for the food & once there's no competition I find that they eat less. Regarding drinking, some of mine hardly ever touch their bottle where as others half empty it daily. If they're getting plenty of veggies they're likely to be getting their water through that.
