my guinea pig is 3 years old, male and is an American short haired breed. I have had him since he was 8 weeks old and haven't seen him lie on his belly/side very often or ever, until now. I know guinea pigs can do this if they are tired but I was getting slightly worried he may be ill? he is showing no other symptoms of being ill but could anyone tell me if this okay? probably nothing but just checking anyway:tu:

Welcome to the forum.
I suggest you keep an eye on him.
Is he eating, weeing and pooping normally?
A piggy lying on its tummy or side can just be very relaxed and contented.
When they are fed, in the short space of time before they are starving again mine will just spread out on their tummies like puddles of fur.
Have a browse through some of the photo threads to see if you can see something similar.

If you are concerned that your boy’s behaviour is not relaxing then it’s a good idea to see a vet.

He has had some ‘gooey’ poos but only a couple:no: I think he’s okay but just gonna be monitoring him over the next few day- don’t know if you can’t see but he is on husband side in the photos

He looks relaxed.
Piggies will have a leg or two sticking out when they feel relaxed and secure.
Some forum members get very excited by ‘chookens’
He’s a very handsome boy.
Is he a single pig or does he have a piggy companion?

He has a companion- an 10 week old Abyssinian called Peanut

We need pictures, pictures of piggies are good and your boy is lovely so it would be great to see the baby as well.

Are those little poo’s in these photos his? If so they look normal to me...
if your worried, weigh him daily but he does look like he’s chilling out.
They are but not his, his buddy’s (Peanut) but thanks ;)
