Hi,
I don't think my guinea pig Chicko is very well, he isn't eating or drinking, his eyes seem sunken and he looks puffy, should I take him to the vets? he is 1 in July lives in a cage with his brother who is fine, please advise as I'm very worried.

Hi there, I would definitely take him to the vets without delay. I realise that sounds alarming but guinea pigs go down-hill very quickly and need prompt treatment. One who isn't eating or drinking and looks puffy could be suffering from bloat, for example, which is actually often a medical emergency.
Sorry to worry you even further. I hope very much that this can be sorted out.
Please do give us an update and wishing you and Chicko the very best x

I agree that he needs to see the vet as soon as possible. he sounds very poorly. Keep us updated if you can.

Unfortunately I'm working today, I'm hoping my Chicko will survive until 5.20, got him booked in at vets, will keep people updated.:(

Good luck for this evening, I know today is going to feel like torture. Fingers crossed for Chicko.

@Waggy I hope he's okay. Try not to worry, you're doing the best you can.

Please let us know how the vet visit goes. You might want to ask them for syringe food as it is possible that he might need to be handfed until he's feeling better.
