I've commented in the pregnancy section about one of my girls, i've come in from work to find a new baby in the cage. I didn't even know one of them was expecting!

Looks like there's only the one baby! If it turns out to be a boy as I suspect, how old do they have to be before they are neutered? The wife and son have decided they want to keep the little 'un!

I'm very glad that the birth has gone well, as you've only had the girls 7 weeks it must have been quite a shock.

Mum will require a bit of extra - high vit C veg and alfalfa hay for the calcium so that she does not deplete her own any further.

Boys should be removed from mum no earlier than 21 days, as long as they weigh 250g or more and are showing too much interest in mum. As you have a single baby he will probably grow very quiickly and reach weaning weight sooner than 21 days and start practicing, don't worry and don't remove him before 21 days.

Neutering is generally done only once the baby reaches 600g or more, some vets will do it earlier than this but I would only consider it from 5 months old.

ooooh... congratulation, Papa!

and for the rest, just as Suzy said! ;)

ANy pics yet?

There's a fuzzy pigture in the pregnancy section. I can't believe both pigs are taking turns looking after junior, is this normal?

I think sows will look after another's babies if you have them together. Where did you get them from? Was there a possibility they both have had a fling before you got them? Lo:))l!

I got them off a niece who was downsizing her herd due to babies arriving. They'd been left with a blind boar for a short while, obviously wasn't too blind to do the business! The dirty gerty!

This made me lol too! Well it is a cute piggie & it's great you may be keeping him :))

Here are the latest photos of baby and bay with mum. ;)

I'm currently sat on my computer and the baby was squeaking like crazy. I turned round to find Lola giving it big licks on his face. It was as if he was saying, awww mam, i've already had a wash, you don't need to do me again! :)):)):))

After keeping rabbits for decades, i'm used to babies being born blind and bald and not doing much for up to 10 days! I couldn't believe that for a start, I didn't know Lola was pregnant when I got her. I just put her weight gain to plenty of good food, Angel has put weight on too! What surprised me the most was this little creature was so biologically advanced, that it was bigger than a 10 day old rabbit at 4 hours old and it had all its fur, its eyes were open and it was running round the cage!

I've just weighed junior, at 4 days old, it has weighed in at 100 gms (4 oz) Is this big, small or about right for this age? It's my first piggy baby so I'm unsure of sizes.

Junior has now been named Pip. Pip has been weighed today at 6 days old and now weighs 125 grams. The little fat piggy! :)

Just caught up on your news! ?/ Congratulations Grandpa :)

I know who rules the roost in the piggy cage - Pip! Angel and Lola are sitting round the bowl of fresh fruit and veg eating all lady like. No such airs and graces for Pip! Right in the middle of the bowl with all 4 paws munching for England! :)) :)) :))

congrats Granddad! and so glad little Pip is doing well. Absolutely adorable! x

Now 9 days old and weighing in 175 grams and growing daily! :))
