Ridiculously excited. After lots of pestering and whining and showing I'm responsible Dad has agreed to let me and Mum get two more piggies. (He hates animals and threated to divorce Mum with the first to so I would say we've advanced well! He couldn't resist the adorableness for long! :)) )

Just wondering, as I already have two boars, should I get boys or girls. They would be kept seperate (i.e different cages, different runs etc.) but I was wondering if anyone had advice.

I've spent the past hour trawling local rescue sites but am probably going to wait till after Christmas when centers apparently get a lot of unwanted Christmas presents in before I chose.

But omigosh I'm excited and had to tell someone. All my friends just treat me like I've gone nuts when I bring it up! mallethead

At least you lot will understand!

I'm sooo jealous!

But so, so happy for you!

I know what you mean about people thinking you're nuts. When I was first allowed piggies, I was over the moon and wouldn't shut up!
Thankfully now my friends and work colleagues understand and even ask me "Is that for your little piggies?" when I steal cardboard boxes.

Yay! More piggies is definitely the way to go!

Re: Boys or girls - totally up to you! If you get girls you will need to limit contact (sniffing) with your boys as it may (but that said, none of my boys over the years have had problems with girls near by!) cause some issues. But separate cages, separate runs etc will allow you to choose whichever you want! There will probably be more boars in rescue to choose from, as is the nature of boariness but you should choose what/who you want when you come to looking for your perfect piggies. Choose the piggies for their personalities, gender's not a problem if they're separate!

Best of luck finding the perfect piggies! :)

What I would say, If you choose girls, Is dont get a girl that looks like either of your boys. My friend did this. Well... aqctually, she got two identically looking piggies from a pet shop, (both jet black, with black eyes,) that turned out to be miss sexed so she has a girl and a boy. Luckily, by some sheer mirical, she wasnt pregnant. they had only been together 3 hours when it was discovered. So she got them both a new friend. Which worked fine untill about a year later her and her mother were each carrying a piggy inside from the run, and somehow got confused. The girl got put back in the wrong cage and vala, babies. *rolls eyes*

Make sure they look different. :)

Wonderful news! I am tickled about every piggy I can smuggle past my hub...

Personally, I would go for more boars. If possible for a well bonded couple from a rescue; then you don't have to worry so much about potential fall outs.

want some of mine?! I seem to have multiplied in the past few weeks:))

Boys all the way despite the fact they have bonding issues I prefer boys, they always seem a little more chilled out :).
I LOVE boars :)

I knew you'd all understand. ")

I just picked up some food for my piggies at P@H and nearly pignapped the one little boar left all on his own. He was adorable.

If anyone has any little piggies that need homes and live in Kent I might be able to offer a home. We'll see how it goes and whether local rescue have what we're looking for.
