Love it, and I bet the pigs will too.
And like you I imagined that making the C&C would be a walk in the park - it wasn't the most fun afternoon ever, but still undoubtedly the best cage ever!

Looks great! So much space. The black grids and correx really make it look smart.
I might swap out my white ones one day.

That's amazing !

How did you make your " staircase " ?

Thank you! I only enlarged it by one grid from a 5x2 to a 6x2 but it does seem a lot bigger. The staircase is a work of art! It has a two bent grids of differing lengths to make the ramps, which are in turn linked by a landing area. The landing area is supported by 2 wooden batons cable-tied to the side of the cage and the whole thing is held in place with yet more cable-ties!

The bend grids are lined with correx, then vetbed to give grip. The vetbed is just cable-tied in place with reusable ties so that I can take it off to wash and replace.

That is brilliant, I love the bend in the ramp it makes the ramp look so elegant! That's a very posh piggy pad.

Thank you. I wanted the ramp to take up as little floor space as possible and I also wanted it so they could do laps of the cage without the ramp getting in the way. The way it's designed means they can get all the way around the base of the ramp with room to spare, and I can lift the lower ramp up to make cleaning (and catching pigs who have wedged themselves in the most difficult corner) a lot easier!

Plus it has the added advantage of giving them another platform to sit on.

I've had the grids for years and bought several boxes when B&Q were selling them off cheap. I think I only paid somethibg like £10 a box. Wish I'd bought all their stock now but I still came home with about 3 boxes!

The correx is from Wickes. It's only 2mm thick so really needs the support of the grids, but it's HUGE at 1.5m x 2.4m and only costs about £4.50 a sheet. I think it's called Proplex in Wickes and is sold as flooring/wall/worktop protection. You can get exactly the same stuff in Travis Perkins, who also do it in white/opaque - it's called 'Antinox' in Travis Perkins. If you need your correx to be free-standing then this stuff won't work for you as you need it to be 4mm thick.

Antinox is Correx?!

I used Antinox sheets for a temp floor for my house one year. I did not know it was Correx!

Does B&Q still sell the grids?

Yes, Antinox is correx! But it's thin correx at only 2mm. Fine for inside grids though. No, B&Q no longer sell grids. I bought mine about 5 years ago when they were selling off all their stock.

Ok thank you Mackers for the information. I guess in the future when I look more in depth at C & C I will have to do it on line.

It is a shame, as sometimesI like to look at things before I buy them.

I will admit...every time I clean out the girls cage, I spend a bit of time looking at it wistfully. It's all neat and clean...not a poo in sight, and the hay is actually where it should be (for once)!

Then I put the girls back and cringe. Popcorning. Zoomies

Instant mess.

Why can't piggies be houseproud?

Love your cage. mine below but I may need to copy your idea of the curtain around

I've got my cage on those Ikea tables too! The curtain just hides all the detritus that I've shoved underneath! Puppy pads, food, fleece items etc. It looks untidy so I made a curtain out of a cheap offcut of fabric, threaded net curtain wire through it and hooked it to the C&C itself. I have new fabric to make a new curtain as I jacked the tables up a bit so the cage is about 4 inches higher now and it looks like the curtain has had an argument with the floor! Plus, the curtain gives the dog something to wipe himself all over when he comes in wet from having been in the river *sigh* :mal:.
