I finally decided to give vet bed a go and now have it over newspaper on both levels of the pig hut outside. Hallelujah! Early days yet but what a difference! Took just a minute or two to brush up all the poo and I got white so I could easily see it all.

The only problem I had was cutting it. I used what I thought were sharp scissors but I've ended up with a massive blister on my middle finger and I've yet more to cut up for spares.

Can anyone recommend a really, really good pair of sharp scissors that can cope with vet bed, carpet, cardboard, plastic etc?

Cheers :)

Personally, I've always found it easier to cut vetbed from the underside with a really sharp Stanley knife or craft knife. You sometimes need to just snip through a few bits of the top fluffy layer as the Stanley knife doesn't get all the way through but it's a LOT easier than cutting it with scissors.

I agree with Mackers, I use a knife to cut through the carpet I use to cover the ramps - Much easier! But sharp, so be careful! :)

Ah - thanks. I'll do that for the next lot. I do have a Stanley knife somewhere - and even some cheap craft knives lying about from previous projects but the place is in such a tip at the moment I can't find anything!

The other alternative is to use garden shears. The big handles gives you more leverage.

I used a stanley knife for mine(but please be careful I cut myself like an idiot rolleyes), it's amazing stuff eally easy to spot clean and dries almost instantly so no wet piggies. They love to snuggle and doze on it if you have it under their tunnel, I leave a little strip further out and they like to sleep there so I can watch them :D We did wash ours in the washing machine but after a few it was clear the wee was staining the machine etc. however if you put it out on the line on a rainy day it takes the worst out then a soak in the bath should do it

Never had that problem with wee staining the washer, I put my vetbed in an old duvet cover, keeps all the bits that are left inside the cover, I don't know whether you did this already.

Cheers - I share my place with this - so a bit of guinea wee in the machine won't make much difference :))
