lve got 3 sows in 1 C&C cage. For the last 3-4weeks it's been a little smaller as I have a neutered boy waiting to join them. Tia & Tatty are about 18months. Pickles Is a bit younger.
Pickles has always been a bit bolshi the problem is now.She has her nose up Tia's bum, I don't know if she's eating Tia's poo or not. (Sorry it's not pleasant reading) she is constantly chasing Tia around, she's confronting her all the time when's she in the igloo, or somewhere else resting.
I have squeals all the time whether it's from Tia, or its maybe from Pickles, because Tia is nipping her.
Pickles will do the same with Tatty, but it's minimal.
They have always lived together & been fine. This is the 3 Molly was in with, before she died at Xmas is this maybe a contributing factor.
Just gonna get the headache pills.:hb:
One more thing I bathed Tia yesterday & it made no difference.

Forgot to ask Wiebke my boy had the chop the same day as your lad, when can they go in with the girls, I've lost the dates.

Have Pickles checked for hormonal problems by a piggy savvy vet. Ovarian cysts are possible from 18 months onward. it is usually the small ones that are causing the aggression/hormonal behaviour issues while larger cysts often come up with any symptoms at all.

Nye was neutered on 10th January. He will be 6 weeks post op on 21st February. ;)

Thanks for the date Wiebke, I'll get her to the vet, as soon as my vet is on, hopefully Monday.

I hope you manage to get to the bottom of it (no pun intended) x

Well I have postponed Pickles trip to the vet. She started onto the other piggies, but mainly Tia again this morning. Then about an hour later, it all stopped & peace was restored. Weird!
So I'll see if it starts again, l wonder if her behaviour was hormonal.
Peace rains again.

I am in no way and expert, but my recent experiences with Ruby (too young for ovarian cysts) has shown me that some sows just need a lot of space.
Ruby has only ever really tolerated one guinea pig (Lucy) and since I was forced to split the 4 pigs into 2 pairs, Ruby was put with Lucy.
There were in a reduced C&C, and within a week Ruby was showing signs of being unhappy and picking on Lucy (not the normal bossing around - a step up from that). So I moved them to the floor time pen, while I waited for new grids (the ones sent to Swaziland by mistake - an ongoing catalogue of errors).

In the bigger space they were fine and Ruby settled down again.
I have now realised that Ruby needs to be treated like a boar (or grumpy sow) and the recommended cage guidelines just don't apply to her.
Maybe once Pickles is back in a a larger space things will settle down again?
Fingers crossed for you - these girls can be complicated!
