So that is what the staff at my local big brand pet shop call me. Mainly because most of my rescues have come from there. Plus giving tips to the staff on better guinea pig welfare. I dont agree with pet shops selling any animal. But if I can make any fluffballs life easier I will try.

So I was in there yesterday and I got asked into the back of the store. Low and behold they wanted me to double check the sexs of all their new baby guineas going out in the store on monday. 12 adorable female balls of fluff running around in their cages. Took about 20 minutes to sex them all and I also got to meet the adult guineas up for adoption. Made my day and they are actually all being very well looked after even if I dont agree with it.

Long story short the manager is giving me one of the babies to bring home for free as a thank you for the help tips suggestions and downright annoying pain in the ass iv been in there for the last few months.

Aww it's lovely that you are helping those piggies have a better start in the pet shop and that the pet shop owner is willing to improve care standards and get things right!

They actually took a guinea out of the store and into the back because I suspected she is pregnant. Saw her yesterday in a nice big cage with her sister with a notice saying do not rehome under pregnancy observation.

Lovely to see them giving a damn :D

Ah well done you :)
It’s nice to hear of one of those pet shops taking some notice and looking to improve.

That’s so nice of you to take the time to help, and great that they seem to be caring for their animals well. Glad to hear a happy tale from a pet shop :)

Wow that’s a lovely story. You did well telling the sex of the little baby piggies cos that in itself is really tricky (I think it is anyway)
Can’t wait to see some piccies of your newest addition & I hope the introduction goes well x

Its really tough and I am in no way an expert. They just wanted a second opinion. But I have sexed 4 of my own baby piggies in the past when I got pregnant rescue sows. And touch wood been right so far.

Congratulations and well done.
It just goes to show that we can make a positive difference if we are prepared to act.
Looking forward to pictures of your new baby

Well done for making a difference by increasing guinea pig welfare there.

Stunning piggies thanks for the photos!

What a cutie:love: Don't lock the door tonight:bal: I may be round with my piggie napping torch and coat with the piggie sized pockets! I'll call into you :dri:and then stay with my son overnight he is in Grimsby until September working at the Oil Refinery at Immingham. Perfect Plan!:tu:

Well the bonding is going ok. Bit of pushing and chasing but she has her self a nice out the way spot that the others cant reach. Been spending most of the day with my chilled out boar as he seems very protective of little ones.

What a lovely story. May I ask if it was PAH? The reason I ask is because we too have received exceptional service and our piggy has had the best care from them.

Great to hear that the store were receptive to you. We are unlikely to ever see a stop to the commercial breeding of piggies or the sale of piggies through pet shops. So anything we can do to improve the knowledge of the staff and improve the welfare of the piggies in their care is a good thing. Well done.

And your little one is just adorable.
