Hello.

My name is Zofia. I have 8 house rabbits and a hamster (I also post on Rabbit United - I'm "Toffee" on there for anyone else who does).

Recently my local Rabbit rescue took in about 30 Guinea Pigs so I thought I'd help out and take a couple.

I adopted Ernie about a month ago, a neutered male who we think is about 1 year old. It took him a while to settle in and he's very shy, having come from a bad home but he's opening up slowly. Last week I picked up Babe, a 8 week old female to be Ernie's friend.

They seem to be getting on well and are enjoying running around my sitting room, chasing and hiding from each other.

I used to have Guinea pigs when I was younger but that was about 10 years ago, so I'll be on here looking for plenty of advice! I've got the Guinea pig handbook but that's more practical advice about care, whereas I'm more interested in behaviour. Also I've not found in any book a mention of keeping a neutered male with a female - they all seem to advocate keeping same sex pairs. I guess the relationship is different with a male & female?

Hello and welcome! I'm Claire, and I have 4 sows. I've often heard that your setup can make the best pairing! Hopefully someone else on here will know more. x

Helloooo and welcome!

A lot of members here have a neutered boar and sow or sows! I have had a boar neutered and he will be going in with my 2 sows next wheek :))

All my others are boar pairings and a single grumpy boar....I love boars ^)
 
Hiya. Welcome to the forum. Everyone is really friendly and helpful. I've found the advice on here brilliant - doesn't compare to any book. :)p

Thanks! 6 of my 8 rabbits are rescues and my hamster just turned up in my kitchen 1 day! I'm just a soft touch when a creature needs a home, I'm afraid!
 
Welcome to the Forum Zofia :) You are not alone in being a soft touch where small furries are concerned, the majority of people on here feel just the same ;)

Hi welcome to the forum :) I think neutered male/female pairs are lovely, the women seem to look after the man lol! But still quite cute to watch! I'm jealous of your many buns too!
