i'm not having a great time...

last week Molly had to go to the vets and be put to sleep, and then Allie seemed ill and had to go to the vet, and now Rinnie has the sniffles and needs a vet i'm having a really rough few weeks. in the middle of exams, too. and before last week, i'd never had to go to the vet with a piggle hopefully a prescription of Baytril will make Rinnie all better. i don't know what i'll do if it doesn't. my vet must think i'm awful mallethead

Your vet will not think you are awful at all. You are doing the right thing by taking your piggies to the vets! I am so sorry that you are going through this at the minute. Sending you huge hugs and positive vibes for Allie and Rinnie x

thanks Allie's fine, it was just paranoia on my part, and depression on hers. Molly was her friend. they were in with my older ladies, and were the youngest. she's been separated away into her own hutch now. she shares with a baby i bought last week to keep her company as they're roughly the same age.

Rinnie is an adopted piggle i got last year, as my oldest piggle had a stroke and i realised that my 3 year old would be alone if the 5 year old were to die (although Tilly is still going strong). i worry a lot where the cold is concerned. Rinnie was originally adopted with her sister, but i was stupid and missed the signs of bullying. Winnie broke a hutch door and went out into the rain. she couldn't have been there long, but died of pneumonia anyway. now i'm just insanely protective of them all...

I am sorry you're having a rough time with your piggies at the moment. When it rains, it pours! It will ease off eventually, just remember that you're doing the best you can for them.

I had two years of piggie illnesses from end 2006 - start 2009 but have had just a couple of minor problems in the past year. I expect some hefty vets (well, CCT) bills over the coming few years though, especially with having quite a few seniors!

I'm so sorry for your pain.

I'm sure my words don't really help but we all understand how much worry and pain you must have. I have lost many friends in life, both human and animal. I always remind my self that we will meet again with G_D.

I'm sure the Vet is in no way bothered by your attentions to your animal friends.....he must be happy to know they are well locked after............good human!

You're definitely not a bad piggy mum and no way does your vet think that. Bad owners don't visit the vet!

I had a run like you when I first got pigies, I got one from p@h that was ill and infected 2 others so was back and fore the vets for ages. It couldn't be helped but didn't help me feel any better. It will all pass.

Hope the baytril does the trick!

good news Rinnie's cold will be gone with a course of baytril....

bad news he found a lumpin her abdomen. it could either be a benign lump, or an inoperable tumour. if she isn't dead/dying by monday (i about died when he said that), then there's a chance it isn't harmful.

surely my luck can't be THAT bad!

I hope that the lump turns out to be benign. I am glad that she has just a cold and no problems with her lungs, though.

PS: Fingers crossed for your exams in the middle of such mayhem!

i only have one exam left, but it's still amazingly difficult to concentrate. i'm currently wrecking my head praying Rinnie is okay. i'd love to be able to just sit and cuddle her until monday, but not only is that cruel, i got Rinnie when she was three, and she's the most anti social piggle i've got. on top of that, she's the loudest. i don't get how i could get so little warning 8...
