:( I have in my head what I would like for trek to have in garden when weather improves (i'm trying to over compensate for him being an only one. It gets me down but I have to wait till he's neutered for a little girlfriend - bite marks from males in his ears so fear problems introducing a male :-\ )

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway!

I would like him to have loads of room in my garden to run about but with gaps in fencing, toddler running around, up the roads cat visiting, squirrels visiting and rabbits in the morning the poor lonely fella needs to be inclosed.

This is what I have in mind. Imagine a playpen for children, yeah? Bigger but hinged sections of metal/wood that can be clipped together in different shapes and that can be folded away when DD wants to play and we have BBQ's etc.

I've searched but to no avail.. any ideas - i've found the runs that are 'tent' shaped but don't think tgey're big enough for full on exercise.

What do you all think?

I'd make your own up with grids like used for C C runs you can add or make 2 storeys then remove it at night or when finished with, you can also add grids on the top for protection, and of course bottom but you will need cardboard or lino for feet comfort and a shdy end with a towel etc over the top

whats a 'c and c run'?

Sorry for probably asking the obvious. i'm just very new to guinea pigs.

I've been looking arouond for the same kind of thing (with child playpen as an idea too) and the closest I could find to what I had in mind is what you see on the Zooplus website, under Small Animals, Cages and hutches, Pens and fencing. I think the one I liked was 18 inches high and I was looking for something taller. We did google with the term playpen too. I found something locally similar to the zooplus outdoor pen for use indoors when we want to contain the guinea pigs in a larger area that we can sit in (we have too much open plan living space for it to be safe for them to wander about). It might be designed to be an enclosure for dogs but it's worked really well so far - although the sides don't detach I can simpply fold them in on each other to make a smaller area or extend fully for a larger one. (I have not been able to put any pics on siite so far otherwise would post a pic) We are not planning to use it in the garden because it is open-topped...although come to think of it if we want to sit in the enclosure with them it could work well outdoors too. I think we will have to make the outdoor roof-protected one - have just bought some mesh from Wilkinsons today that I hope will be suitable. Saw a large rectangular framed run at Notcutts Garden Centre recently but if anything it seemed too large and cost £90. Hope that helps.

PS The drawback of the outdoor pens I mentioned earlier is the lack of a protective top. You can purchase a protective net but it is not completely predator-proof and not designed to be left unattended. However it's a toss-up between flexibility (size and shape) and protection. I notice you can purchase additional sides, and it comes with stakes.
