I've just received an email from a lady I know in connection with hedgehogs, asking for help. She has emailed to say that her and her friend have been out walking tonight and have found a carrier bag full of guinea pigs.

I have no other way of contacting her other than through the email as we have never exchanged phone numbers. However, she's not replying.

Please if she does happen to contact another rescue centre for help can you put my mind to rest as I'm sat here worrying about them.

OMG that is shocking :o Those poor piggies :0 I really do hope that these piggies are taken in and taken to a rescue. Do you know if the lady took the pigs or just left them there?
 
She has taken them in as she asks if I can take them but there's no other details about numbers, condition etc.

I guess I will have to wait and see....
 
I really hope these piggies are ok ... it is cold out there!

How does anyone do this? Putting them in a carrier bag? :(:{

How awful - I hope you'll hear soon, but if she's taken them in then at least they won't be out in the cold. How can people do this - if they have problems, there are other solutions.
 
This is awful Claire, if I can do anything at all on Friday or Saturday while I am down there, let me know. x
 
Glad she took them in too. Poor little things. What is wrong with people dumping animals, it makes me so mad and sad for the animals. Hope they will be ok xx
 
Those poor little piggies. Thank you to those who have offered to take them in, I really hope they are in a safe, warm place now.
 
A quick update.

I'm still not certain of the exact details but I was emailed last last night to say they are all going to the vets this morning to be checked and sexed.

She would like to keep some of the sows as pets.

I have passed my number on and explained the potential problem she has with taking on any sows that have been found with even one boar!

I am still waiting to hear about the numbers, conditions and will help where I can.

Thank you for the update Claire. At least they are in a safe place now, I just hope they are all in good condition.
 
I managed to get hold of a friend of the lady who emailed me the other night about the guinea pigs.

The carrier bag was found in a field in Great Yarmouth while she was out walking her dog. So they had been dumped to die. There were quite a few but i'm not certain of the numbers.

All are young and are still alive at the moment. They have been sexed and parted and she is well aware that the sows could be pregnant.

Having kept rabbits herself in the past she is keeping them to care for and a few of the others have gone to a friend for some TLC.

Thank you again to all of you for your kind words.
Fingers crossed they will all be ok. She certainly found them at the right time.
