So earlier this week i noticed kay was passing gas a lot and seemed to be really uncomforatable when he did so. He was really bloated but after handling him the bloating went down and he went back to his normal self and has not done it since.
I took him to the vet a day later because he also seemed to have mites. Anyway, the vet felt his tummy and said she felt a golf ball sized lump in his stomach and that he needed an ultrasound when i got home i felt the lump myself which was as the vet said golf ball sized just below his rib cage, but when i checked him later the lump was completely gone. we took him in for his ultrasound this morning, i'v just got a call back saying they had to do an x-ray and found a small lump inside his stomach and that if left she believes it will only get worse until it blocks up his system completely and that she wants to keep him in overnight do an op tomorrow morning which she said will be major. And when i asked about the risks she said 15% from being put under but the main risk is recovery which she could not be sure about.

I just cant believe it, this morning he was happy, eating, my typical little Kay. I was so sure it couldnt be anything serious. And now I'm sitting here thinking the odds are against ever seeing him again ...

Oh no I'm sorry :(
Think positive hopefully he'll fight it and I'm sorry he's not well x

Our piggies are hardier than we give them credit for, as said think positively.

Healing vibes for him x

I can understand why you are so upset and worried. Kay is in good hands and I am sure they will do all they can for him. I hope he is better and home with you soon.

My Patrick had major surgery done, with the proper post Op care he will be able to get though this.

You may need to syringe feed him are you confident doing this?
If he is given Antibiotics it would be a good idea to order some fiberplex along with critical care to syringe feed with Vetuk are very fast with deliveries.

Fibreplex;

Critical Care;

Also ask the vet for some 1ml syringes, best way I find to syringe feed is by cutting the end of a 1ml syringe and syringe a ml at a time.

The boys had have antibiotics a few times before which had to be given by syringe so i am sure i could do it, i also have a 1ml syringe i kept for this reason. But i will most likely ask for another one.
Thank you everyone, Kay and Leo are my first piggies and so this is my first time having anything seriously wrong with them. Thanks for these links they will help me feel like I'm doing something to help him.

The saddest thing is, Leo my usual wheeking, boucing, uncontrolable, eating machine has taken to sitting in his house all day nd iv got him out on my bed with me for a cuddle and he hasnt moved from the spot. The thought of him being without Kay permanatly just breaks my heart.

Sorry to hear this, sending lots of positive healing vibes Kay's way. Hope he recovers well and is home soon. lots of love to both you and Leo. Try to keep positive *hugs* x x

I would also get Painkiller's off the vet as they do seem to be a bit tender after an operation and Emeprid which is a gut stimulant - this was a life saver for P when he went into gut stasis after his operation.

Just got a call from the vet, he didnt make it.
He survived the op but crashed about 5 minuties ago. The guy on the phone sounded like he was close to tears himself.

Oh I am so sorry :(

Rest in peace Kay! You were a brave piggie and you are still loved x

HUGS

I am so so sorry; I have lost piggies of mine during and after operations. It is such a gutting experience.

OHHH I am so sorry that Kay didn't make it, Hugs to you, you still did the right thing though, I suppose the lump would have got bigger with time and at least Kay wasn't suffering, it is better to go like that that in pain. RIP little Kay, run free at the bridge. Will you collect Kay from the vets to say your goodbyes. 8...

So sorry for your loss. You did everything you could for your little one. *massive hugs*

RIP Kay
