I know this sounds really stupid but I'm terrified of one of my piggies dying!
i always read about young piggys dying and people not even knowin they are ill, mine are 13 months and 18 months and the older one is just getting over an infection which I'm scared is maybe still in her system, she seems much betta but hasnt completley got her squeek back! should i worry about this?

This may sound stupid but they mean the world to me and not only do i worry about them dying i worry about it happening now at the most important time in my life (final year of a law degree) as it would definatly effect my grades! (I'm not shallow as my pigs are more important to me)

i need reasurrance?

if she seems better she is hopefully on the mend! Does she have any symtoms still? I know how you feel about worrying as I still think after george's mites that every scratch maybe a sign, but then tell myself that I only see him stratching a couple of times a week so I am being silly.

Maybe a vet trip could ease your worry? I'm taking mine next week whilst off work for tiger to have a nail clip as can't bring myself to clip his black ones and george for a check-up as convinced he has a bladder infection or something (again probably a silly worry as he seems fine if not just a bit smelly! )

It's natural for you to worry about her because you care so much about her. I worry about my lot, but they seem ok.
Maybe a check up with the vet will, put your mind at rest. Keep us updated with how she is going.

Isnt it amazing how these little creatures make such a big impact on your life?
I have a fridge magnet that reads 'Happiness is......Sharing your life with a guinea pig'
I think that sums it up completely
I hope your piggy gets well soon and keep up the good work nursing her better.

she hasnt really got any symptoms but however she lost her squeek so she was given antibiotics and they seemed to be working and she was getting her squeek back but when the antibiotics finished her squeek stopped improving, it just stayed at the point it was at?

i do want to take her to the vet but my boyfriend is not happy about it cos she thinks she is fine cos she is still eating, popcorning etc and that I'm overeacting!:{

I'm just so attached to them, my worst nightare is coming home to find one dead, knowin they died alone!:0

I know how you feel. Sometimes i wish i hadnt got them because i love them so much, i'll be heart broken when they die. I am glad i got them though. :)p

Hope you piggy gets well soon! ^)

Don't worry, I was freaking out the first time I got my guinea pigs. I'm sure shes doing better and if she could talk she'd probably tell you shes fine. As long as you keep an eye on her then I'm sure she can continue to improve!

awww dont worry to much as it is out of your control.death is a part of life and it is o.k to feel hurt and sad and grieve if a pet dies but you also have to move on.It is important to remember that your pets would have wanted you to be happy and they would be very upset I'm sure if they thought they had somehow made your life bad!

I have been worrying too, how do you know if they are ill, I have only had my piggies for 2 weeks and worry about them like mad, I would hate it if they were to get ill :(

I have no advice to add to the above posters re: the illness. But, something to remember is that for a period of sheer heartbreak at the death of a loved one, you have a lifetime of happy memories and love shared. If you had the choice, you would not be without the happy memories - despite the pain and sadness that losing them incurs. The love outweighs the grief, always.

Try not to let this worry cloud your enjoyment of your piggies; they will be with you as long as they can. I worried about it also for a time but, after actually losing three piggies over the past year, I know they aren't gone, not really. I miss their physical presence but I still feel them around me.
